Tai'an Temple Introduction
Main Deity: Saint Hou Enzhu Xianju, also known as Yan Tso. The residents are mainly from the Yan and Lu surnames, with Lu Ruoteng, who served as Minister of War in the late Ming dynasty, being a person from Xianju. Tai'an Temple was originally built in the Ming dynasty, and the Old Kinmen Chronicles record that Xianju has a Vice Minister's Shrine enshrining the late Ming Vice Minister Wang Zhongxiao, along with Ming loyalists such as Zeng Ying, Shen Chenquan, Xu Jiyin, Gu Zhaojian, Xu Fuyuan, and Guo Zhenyi, hence also known as the Shrine of the Seven Worthies. The seven were all scholars and officials who had fled to Kinmen during the late Ming dynasty. Today’s Tai'an Temple honors Saint Hou Enzhu as the deity of the territory and also enshrines Guangze Zunwang, Baosheng Dadi, Chi Fu, Jin Fu Wangye, Liu Xing Fu, and Su Wangye, among others.
