Goddess of Heaven Temple, Wuzhishan Introduction
Wuzhou is an ancient place name in Kinmen. The City God of Houping (Jincheng) was established in the 21st year of the Kangxi era (1682). The first military governor of Kinmen, Chen Long, moved the governor's office from Kinmen City to Houping and also transferred the City God here, which has a history of over three hundred years. The Huzhou City God Temple has undergone multiple renovations over the years and has recently been reconstructed with granite and cement, making the temple more grand and magnificent. After Zhu Yuanzhang established his rule during the Ming Dynasty, he stated: "I establish the City God to make people know fear; when people have fear, they do not dare to act recklessly." This shows that both emperors and the public hold the City God in high esteem and sincerity. The "Wuzhou City God Procession" on the twelfth day of the fourth month of the lunar calendar is the grandest religious event in Kinmen. In recent times, this important day has been combined with the tourism culture season, inviting various groups to present traditional arts, allowing travelers to personally experience the richness of Kinmen's religious culture.
