Waiwu Temple Introduction
The Wumiao Temple is dedicated to the worship of Guandi (the God of War). The Outer Wumiao, which is associated with the Wumiao Temple, is a temple that enshrines the steed Red Hare and Guandi's generals and horse grooms, commonly referred to as "Masha Temple." The Wumiao in Houpu was built during the late Ming Dynasty in the Yongli period. Subsequently, the Outer Wumiao was constructed outside the West Gate and enshrined Wang Ye Han, the local deity of the West Gate area, distinguishing it from the city temple, hence the name Outer Wumiao. To the right of the temple is a major thoroughfare, and a new stage has been built in front of the temple. Whenever celebrations and performances are held in the temple, the square becomes crowded with spectators, creating a vibrant atmosphere amidst the passing vehicles, reaching the peak of festive activities.
