Xihu Resort - Yuhuayuan Chinese Restaurant Introduction
Miaoli County's Featured Cuisine Certification Category: Chinese Cuisine; Wi-Fi available; Xihu Resort is located in Xihu Village, Sanyi Township, Miaoli County (next to the Sanyi Interchange on National Highway No. 3). Established in 1989 by Mr. Chen Ying-sheng, a leading figure in the central Taiwan construction industry, the resort is next to a natural lake called "Dexing Pool." Dexing Pool was originally named "Guai Zi Lake," where frogs gather and reside, making the sound of frog croaking incessant in the summer. The name "Guai Zi" comes from the Hakka pronunciation for frog. In 1959, it was renamed Dexing Pool. Since "Dexing Pool" is located in Xihu Village, Sanyi Township, covering an area of about 10 hectares and surrounded by mountains, the scenery is quite beautiful. The landscape is comparable to West Lake in Hangzhou, China, so local residents also refer to it as "West Lake." Mr. Chen Ying-sheng hopes to combine the romantic misty scenery and wood carving art of Sanyi to create a resort as famous as Hangzhou's West Lake, thus naming the area "Xihu Resort."
