Miaoli County Specialty Food Certification Category: Chinese Cuisine; provides wifi; The Xihu Resort is located in Xihu Village, Sanyi Township, Miaoli County (next to the Sanyi Interchange on National Highway No. 3). Founded in 1989 by Mr. Chen Yingsheng, a pioneer in the central Taiwan construction industry, there is a natural lake called "Dexing Pool" beside the park. Dexing Pool was originally named "Guazi Lake," where frogs gather and inhabit, creating a continuous chorus of croaking in the summer. It got its name from the Hakka pronunciation of "frog," which is "Guazi." In 1959, it was renamed Dexing Pool. Since "Dexing Pool" is located in Xihu Village, Sanyi Township, covering an area of about 10 hectares and surrounded by mountains, the scenery is very beautiful, comparable to West Lake in Hangzhou, China. Therefore, local residents also refer to it as "Xihu." Mr. Chen Yingsheng hopes to combine the romantic misty scenery and woodcarving art of Sanyi into a resort renowned like Hangzhou's West Lake, which is why the park was named "Xihu Resort."
