Shiqiangzi Neighorhood Introduction
Located at the foot of Datun Mountain in Tamsui, there is a historical house, delicious food, and aromatic coffee, where poets gather—a culinary gem known as "Shiqiangzinei," the ancestral home of the renowned poet Li Kuixian, who is celebrated across three generations. In 1871, Li Shan Shi, the forefather, cultivated land in Tamsui and Sanzi to build the traditional Hakka three-section courtyard house, taking into account security concerns, with architectural features designed to defend against bandits and protect the safety of families and livestock. These elements have been preserved to this day, resulting in the current beautifully restored tiled house, which locals refer to as the Li family’s "Shiqiangzinei." With over a hundred years of history and an expansive space of over four thousand ping, featuring 23 hundred-year-old trees, enjoying leisure, tasting food, and savoring coffee here is truly a delightful experience. The local dishes at Shiqiangzinei are highly regarded by food enthusiasts, known for their rich traditional flavors. The simple yet flavorful white cut native chicken showcases the natural sweetness of the meat, while the stir-fried cabbage and stir-fried asparagus with shrimp are healthy and harmoniously balanced, allowing the body to be at one with nature, embracing a slower food culture. The traditional stir-fried rice noodles and lotus leaf tofu are must-tries here; you can taste the authentic skills of grandma with the fragrant and rich texture of the rice noodles that entirely please the palate.
