Shiqiangzi Nei Introduction
At the foot of Daitun Mountain in Tamsui lies a historic place with delicious food, aromatic coffee, and a gathering spot for poets. This culinary gem is the ancestral home of the renowned poet Li Kui-hsien, a traditional sanheyuan house known as "Shiqiangzainai." The ancestors, led by Li Shanshi, established the sanheyuan in Tamsui and Sanzi in 1871, incorporating architectural features designed to deter bandits and protect the safety of the household and livestock. Many of these features have been preserved, and after renovations, the current tiled-roof house stands as a testament to over a century of history, surrounded by over 4,000 square meters of space and 23 century-old trees. It is truly a delight to relax here, savor the food, and enjoy coffee. Local dishes at Shiqiangzainai are highly regarded among food enthusiasts for their authentic flavors. One simple yet exquisite dish is the boiled local chicken, which showcases the natural sweetness of the meat. The stir-fried cabbage and stir-fried asparagus with shrimp are both healthy and harmoniously balanced, allowing diners to connect with nature through their meals. The taste of slow food is felt here. Don’t miss out on the traditional stir-fried rice noodles and lotus leaf tofu, which are a must-try—each bite reflects the culinary wisdom passed down from grandmothers, offering a fragrant and rich experience that delights the palate.
