Wuji Zhenyuan Temple (Tianyuan Temple) Introduction
Tamsui Tianyuan Temple is located on the northwest side of the Datun Mountain Range, about 5 kilometers from Tamsui City. Established in the 1970s, the main hall enshrines the Primordial Ancestor, with the primary deity being the Jade Emperor. In 1992, the "Wuji Zhenyuan Tiantan" was added, a five-story sanctuary reaching 200 feet high, with a circular structure measuring 108 feet in diameter, magnificent and grand. Each floor of the sanctuary is dedicated to various enlightened beings of the Wuji realm. During the cherry blossom season, the majestic temple and cherry blossoms complement each other beautifully, making it a must-visit destination. The Tianyuan Temple complex is built on the hills at the foot of the mountain, facing the sea, with a grand atmosphere. The stairway design that follows the mountain's contour enhances the layered effect of the buildings, giving the temple a more solemn and majestic appearance. The complex can be divided into three major areas: the Wuji Tianyuan Temple at the foot of the mountain, the Tiantan located on the hillside, and the back mountain park at the highest point, each with its own characteristics and scenic views. As spring breezes blow, the cherry blossoms at Tianyuan Temple quietly bloom, welcoming one of the most beautiful seasons of the year. The cherry blossoms are mostly planted in the back mountain park and around the Tiantan, with different varieties and slightly varying blooming periods. The mountain cherry blossoms in the back bloom from late January to mid-February, while the Yoshino cherry blossoms around the Tiantan primarily bloom a month later, marking the peak time for cherry blossom viewing. At night, the Tiantan is illuminated, beautifully contrasting with the swaying cherry blossoms, providing a unique charm.
