Wuji Zhenyuan Tian Temple (Tianyuan Temple) Introduction
Tamsui Tian Yuan Temple is located on the northwest side of the Datun Mountain Range, about 5 kilometers from Tamsui District. The temple was established in the 1970s, with the main hall dedicated to the Supreme Elder and the main deity being the Jade Emperor. In 1992, the "Wuji Zhenyuan Tiantan" was added, featuring a five-story sanctuary that reaches 200 feet high, with a circular structure having a diameter of 108 feet, making it magnificent and imposing. Each level of the sanctuary houses various Buddhas of the Wuji realm. During the cherry blossom season, the majestic altar is beautifully complemented by cherry blossoms, making it well worth a visit. The architectural complex of Tian Yuan Temple is built on the hillside at the foot of the mountain, facing the sea, exuding grandeur. The staircase design that follows the mountain contours enhances the layered feeling of the complex, making the temple visually more solemn and magnificent. The Tian Yuan Temple complex can be divided into three main areas: the Wuji Tian Yuan Temple at the foot of the mountain, the Tian Tan located halfway up the mountain, and the rear mountain park at the highest point, each with its own characteristics and beautiful scenery at every turn. As spring breezes blow, the cherry blossoms at Tian Yuan Temple quietly bloom, ushering in the most beautiful season of the year. Most cherry blossoms are planted in the rear mountain park and around the Tian Tan, with different varieties that have slightly different blooming periods. The mountain cherry blossoms in the rear typically bloom from late January to mid-February; in contrast, the pink and white Yoshino cherry blossoms around the altar bloom about a month later, marking the peak time for cherry blossom viewing. At night, the altar is illuminated, casting a beautiful glow on the swaying cherry blossoms, creating a unique charm.
