Rihsi Sweet Potato Balls and Tofu Dessert was established about 48 or 49 years ago by Chiu Ching-Chi, who started selling sweet potato ball ice. In fact, Chiu's previous generation was already in the wholesale business of flour. Chiu thought that instead of solely selling sweet potato balls, it would be better to use the existing materials at home to make sweet potato balls and tofu dessert. The locals loved it, and the worshippers visiting the nearby Bixuan Temple also came in search of it, as it was affordable and delicious, becoming a famous snack in Dongshan.
