Dong Mao Restaurant Introduction
Dong Mao Restaurant has been in operation for over 20 years. Mr. Xie Mao is the founder of the "Lotus Seed Feast" in Baihe. He was born in Dongshan Township, and his name includes the character "Mao," which is why the restaurant was named Dong Mao. He became an apprentice at the age of 13 and has been working in the food industry for more than 60 years. Currently, his son (the second generation) continues the family legacy, and sometimes Mr. Xie still tirelessly supervises quality control and sanitation at the restaurant. In the year 1994, the Baihe Township Agricultural Association organized the Lotus Seed Feast on a larger scale. It was meticulously designed by the home economics class leader (his wife) and the chef of Dong Mao Restaurant (Mr. Xie), with over ten exquisite dishes served at 120 tables, delighting more than a thousand visitors from all over Taiwan who came to enjoy. From May to August, Baihe District is in the peak season for lotus production. To promote local specialties, the Agricultural Association regularly hosts lotus tasting events, highlighting the high culinary value of lotus. Every part of the lotus plant can be used, whether it's the lotus leaves, lotus seeds, lotus flowers, lotus roots, or lotus stalks, all of which can be transformed into delicious dishes.
