Guogou Douhua is a famous tofu pudding shop with customers coming from all over Taiwan. The shop is located in a secluded residence far from the center of Guogou City, but locals (those in the know) are well aware of it and can easily find this purely handmade, traditional-style tofu pudding shop. It is a well-known "store in the alley." The owner, Chen Tianjin (born in 1943), was originally a farmer who cultivated a small plot of land and once ran a laundry service. Due to the low number of customers in the countryside, he switched to selling tofu pudding after getting married to support his family. From grinding the beans to creating soft and fragrant tofu pudding, everything is made using traditional methods. The ingredients are authentic, and the flavors are genuine, earning a great reputation. Originally, Guogou Douhua only offered traditional and peanut flavors, but under the second generation, Chen Kunming (born in 1975), two more flavors—mung bean and red bean—were added, each with its own unique charm. The peanut flavor uses peanuts from Beigang, allowing you to enjoy whole peanuts that are creamy and melt in your mouth; the mung bean flavor features whole mung beans that do not break apart, being fluffy and tasty without a hard shell feeling; the red bean flavor also uses whole red beans that stay intact, being soft and delicious. As for the syrup, it is made from two sands boiled slowly for 6 hours...
