Mugeng Cafe's owner, Orisun, has been interested in classic design items since college. He not only placed EAMES chairs in his dorm but also sold vintage clothing online. After graduating from the graduate school of industrial design, he gradually developed the idea of creating a space where design and life complement each other. "Opening a differentiated coffee shop" is Orisun's entrepreneurial philosophy, and with the support of his designer wife and his sister who is a baker, the three of them, originally from different counties, came together in Chiayi, each showcasing their talents in this space. As the only sales point in Chiayi for Wind and Sunny Independent Records, the coffee shop features vintage imported classic tables and chairs with character, as well as simple yet memorable coffee and desserts, making Mugeng Cafe a favorite spot for domestic and international music performers seeking a performance space in Chiayi City. Mugeng Cafe re-designed old cypress wood into a wooden frame dessert display cabinet, perfectly interpreting the concept of "renewal" in "wood." At the same time, it combines various classic designs that are not easily accessible in everyday life with approachable desserts and coffee, allowing customers to buy the utensils they use in the shop and take them home. The carefully curated decorative items make every corner of the cafe interesting for guests. High-quality utensils and environment are the fundamental elements of Mugeng Cafe, enhancing the warmth of human connections among the staff. Therefore, on the glass door separating the work area, two chameleons are printed enjoying madeleines and coffee, hoping that every soul coming into this space, just like the chameleons, can feel the warmth. "Stay Gold" is the spirit of Mugeng, providing a quality space and products with a focus on "good products and good materials," ensuring that a cup of coffee and a dessert become the most appropriate connection between design and life. Here, every item's golden moment is captured, allowing for more interesting experiences to take root. Mugeng itself is a design company that echoes the street name Cheng Ren Street, historically known for its artists, poets, and numerous framing and carving shops during the Japanese rule, earning it the title of "Beautiful Street." Nowadays, the galleries and artisans still remain the same, and many independent specialty shops have begun to emerge on the seemingly sleepy red brick roads of this beautiful street, creating a fresh atmosphere amidst the residents' leisurely lives. Mugeng turns a cup of coffee into a meaningful connection between design and life, weaving a beautiful and interesting chapter in Chiayi City.
