CouCou Cafe Pâtisserie Introduction
CouCou, a French dessert shop by the railway, sounds like the call of a cuckoo and is a friendly greeting in French. Just like "Cuckoo Dessert Café," it aims to provide a feeling of being neighborly, close, and without distance. The owners, Zhu Kai-an and Lin Cheng-an, have harbored dreams of opening a store since they were young, waiting for the day to realize it. Zhu Kai-an worked as a second mate for Evergreen Marine for three years, where his curiosity for coffee was ignited by the coffee made by the chief mate on board. In the monotony of maritime life, coffee became his only comfort, leading him to leave his high-paying stable job and the sea to bravely dive into the coffee business, where he also met Lin Cheng-an. Lin Cheng-an's interest in making desserts sprouted during her university years. As a visual communication design major, she self-taught dessert making as a way to relieve stress, which eventually sparked her desire to study in France. She began actively preparing: taking French classes, apprenticing in a dessert kitchen, and taking English proficiency tests. After five years of hard work, she finally achieved her dream. Passionate about food and travel, Lin Cheng-an traveled throughout Europe during her studies in France, and the culinary experiences from her travels now serve as inspiration for her dessert designs, with each item in the shop garnering rave reviews. "For example, 'Lemon Crescent,' which is shaped like a crescent moon, imagines how the acidity of lemon changes customers' expressions," Cheng-an playfully describes. Another dessert, "Dancing Banana," showcases her childlike spirit: using multi-layered textures, it combines pop rocks with desserts, making each bite feel like dancing. Of course, exceptional desserts wouldn't be complete without excellent coffee. The coffee beans in the shop are personally selected and roasted by Kai-an, with one signature blend, "Rocking Yirgacheffe," born from his creativity: combining sparkling water with an exclusive formula and Yirgacheffe beans to create a refreshing new flavor, making it one of the bestsellers in the shop. Still looking for professional French desserts and coffee? Come here and satisfy both cravings at once! "Cuckoo Dessert Café" is also planning to incorporate Chiayi agricultural products and connect with the local community, allowing visitors and locals alike to savor the unique flavors that belong to "Chiayi"! Recommended dishes: Lemon Crescent, Rocking Yirgacheffe.
