Beimen Sen-tie Story House Introduction
The Taiwan Cake Beimen Sen Tie Story Museum, which incorporates historical anecdotes from Chiayi, was established to promote tourism in Chiayi city. The museum's unique specialty souvenir, the Taichung Taiping Cake, has its historical roots in the defense of Chiayi during the Qing Dynasty. When food supplies ran low and there was no external aid, the soldiers and civilians ground longan seeds to stave off hunger, hoping for peace soon, hence the name "Taiping Cake." The filling of the Taichung Taiping Cake uses the renowned smoked longan from Dongshan, Tainan, which has a plump fruit flesh with moderate sweetness, combined with California walnuts, blending Eastern and Western ingredients. It has been recognized by the Ministry of Economic Affairs as one of the top 100 stores in the country and has received special honors in the Chiayi City National Environmental Education Award, making it a highly representative intellectual tourism spot in the area.
