Checheng Winery Introduction
Checheng Winery is located in Checheng Village, Shui Li Township, Nantou. It officially opened on April 20, 2003. The main members are farmers primarily engaged in cultivating plums, specifically from the third class of the Shui Li Township Farmers' Association. With technical guidance from the Ministry of Agriculture, it has transformed from traditional agriculture to refined agriculture. When the winery was in its initial preparation stage, the original factory site was severely damaged by Typhoon Tsaoling in July 2001, resulting in the destruction of the factory, equipment, and products by mudslides, which led to considerations of abandoning the establishment of the winery. Ultimately, with the assistance of the Shui Li Township Farmers' Association, the scope of participation was expanded from the third class of fruit tree production and marketing to plum farmers within the jurisdiction of Shui Li Township, allowing the winery to be established in the Checheng community, renowned for its titles "Last Train Station" and "Secret Garden," preserving the good flavors of the "Plum homeland." The area is tranquil, beautiful, and safe, surrounded by mountains and forests, with the Shui Li River flowing in the front and lush green mountains in the back. On the left, there is the largest pumped-storage hydroelectric power station in Asia, Ming Tan Power Plant, and on the right, you can overlook the "Last Train Station," Checheng Train Station, and the beautiful railway scenery. Additionally, "Old Street, Sky Car, Log Pond, Red Tile Houses, Old Buildings, Former Lumber Factory, Coal-Fired Train Water Tower, Checheng Elementary School..." and other "beauties of Checheng" can be viewed from a high perspective at "Checheng Winery Bed & Breakfast."
