Liu's Rice Dumplings Introduction

Liu's Meat Dumplings, which has been selling meat dumplings in Shimen District for nearly thirty years, can be considered the origin of meat dumplings in the area. Back then, the owner, Liu Guosheng, started selling dumplings at a stand in front of the "Shibawang Temple," establishing the reputation of "Liu's Meat Dumplings." Over a decade ago, the owner opened a store on Zhongzheng Road in Shimen City, officially putting up the sign for "Liu's Meat Dumplings." Due to the high sales volume every day, the shop employs over ten people in shifts for wrapping and packing dumplings, with everyone from grandmothers to brides from other places being skilled and quick. Regarding Liu's Meat Dumplings, in the early 1971s, the offerings at the then "Shibawang Temple" became increasingly popular, attracting many people who came to worship the victims of maritime disasters. It was shared among believers that offering hot food as sacrifices was more effective. Therefore, Liu Guosheng, who sold meat dumplings in the Shimen Cave area, began intermittently pushing his stand to the Shibawang Temple to sell dumplings. As a result, the dumpling business thrived, and meat dumplings as offerings came into being. Consequently, to specialize in producing meat dumplings, Liu's Meat Dumplings moved from a small space of just three or four ping in an alley to Zhongzheng Road in Shimen City and officially put up the "Liu's Meat Dumplings" sign.
