Shimen Wind Farm (Windmill Park) Introduction
The Shimen Wind Power Station is Taiwan's first commercial wind power generation facility. The overall design takes visual proportion and aesthetics into consideration, striving to harmonize with the local landscape. To meet the needs of local tourism development, various high and low voltage cable lines have been buried underground, and pedestrian walkways and viewing platforms have been established, along with parking areas, restrooms, real-time operation information boards, and lighting, to enrich the scenic resources. There are a total of six wind turbines in the area, painted in red and white, standing out prominently compared to the pure white structures in Penghu. Shimen not only has a rich marine landscape, but its unique terrain makes wind power resources another characteristic of the area. By heading along Shimen towards the Eighteen Wanggong Temple, one can see giant wind turbines standing tall on the distant mountain tops, which is the Shimen Wind Power Station. Wind power generation not only reduces carbon dioxide emissions but has also become a unique tourist attraction along the North Coast. The park is designed with a wooden walkway for visitors, and below it is a viewing platform that offers beautiful scenery, making it highly recommended for a stroll.
