Shimen Wind Farm (Windmill Park) Introduction
Shimen Wind Power Station is Taiwan's first commercially operated wind turbine. The overall installation considers visual proportions and aesthetics, striving for harmony with the local landscape. To accommodate local tourism development, various high and low voltage cable routes have been buried underground, and pedestrian walkways and observation decks have been constructed, along with parking lots, restrooms, real-time operation information displays, and lighting to enrich the scenic resources. The area features six wind turbines, painted in red and white, which stand out from the pure white designs seen in Penghu. Shimen not only boasts rich marine scenery but also has unique topography that makes wind energy a distinctive characteristic of the area. Traveling along the direction of Shimen toward the Shibawanggong Temple, one can see giant wind turbines standing atop distant hills, marking the location of the Shimen Wind Power Station. Wind power generation not only reduces carbon dioxide emissions but has also become a unique tourist attraction along the North Coast. A wooden boardwalk has been planned within the park for visitors to stroll, with a scenic platform below offering beautiful views, making it highly recommended for walking.
