Shimen Wind Farm Introduction
The Shimen Wind Power Plant is Taiwan's first commercially operated wind turbine. The overall design takes visual proportions and aesthetics into consideration, aiming to harmoniously integrate with the local landscape. In line with the demands for local tourism development, various high and low voltage cable conduits have been placed underground, and pedestrian walkways and observation decks have been established, along with parking lots, restrooms, real-time operation information boards, and lighting to enrich the scenic resources. The area has a total of six wind turbines, painted in alternating red and white, which stand out when viewed from a distance, unlike the pure white structures in Penghu. Shimen not only boasts rich marine scenery, but its unique terrain also enhances its wind power resources, becoming another feature of Shimen. Proceeding along Shimen towards the Shibawangong Temple, one can see towering giant wind turbines on the distant hills, which constitute the Shimen Wind Power Plant. Wind power not only reduces carbon dioxide emissions but also adds to the unique touristic scenery of the North Coast. A wooden plank walkway has been planned within the park for visitors to stroll, with a viewing platform below that offers beautiful views, making it highly recommended for a pleasant walk.
