Shimen Wind Farm (Windmill Park) Introduction
The Shimen Wind Farm is Taiwan's first commercial wind power plant. Its overall design takes into account visual proportion and aesthetics, striving to harmonize with the surrounding landscape. To meet local tourism development needs, various high and low voltage cable lines have been placed underground, and pedestrian paths and viewing platforms have been constructed, along with parking lots, restrooms, real-time operational information boards, and lighting to enrich the scenic resources. The entire area has six wind turbines, which are painted in red and white, standing out prominently compared to the pure white shapes found in Penghu. Shimen not only boasts rich marine scenery but also has unique terrain that makes wind power a characteristic feature of the area. As you head towards the Shijiao Wang Gong Temple along Shimen, you can see the giant wind turbines standing tall on a distant mountain ridge; this is the Shimen Wind Farm. Wind power not only reduces carbon dioxide emissions but also becomes a unique sightseeing attraction on the North Coast. Within the park, a wooden boardwalk is planned for visitors, with a viewing platform below that offers beautiful scenery, making it highly recommended for a stroll.
