Shimen Wind Power Station (Windmill Park) Introduction
Shimen Wind Power Station is the first commercial wind turbine in Taiwan. The overall installation takes into account visual proportions and aesthetics, striving for harmony with the local landscape. In order to meet the needs for local tourism development, various high and low voltage cable conduits have been placed underground, and pedestrian walkways and viewing platforms have been created. Facilities such as parking lots, restrooms, real-time operation information boards, and lighting have also been installed to enrich the scenic resources. The area features six wind turbines, painted in a red and white pattern, which stands out distinctly compared to the solid white shapes in Penghu. Shimen not only boasts a rich marine landscape, but its unique terrain also makes wind power a characteristic feature of the area. Proceeding along Shimen towards the Shibawangong Temple, one can see giant wind turbines standing on the distant hills; this is the Shimen Wind Power Station. Wind power not only reduces carbon dioxide emissions but has also become a unique tourist attraction along the North Coast. The park is designed with a wooden walkway for visitors to stroll along, with a viewing platform below offering beautiful scenery, making it highly recommended for a visit.
