Shimen Wind Power Station (Windmill Park) Introduction
Shimen Wind Power Station is the first commercial wind turbine installation in Taiwan. The overall design considers visual proportions and aesthetics, striving to harmonize with the local landscape. To meet the local demand for tourism development, various high and low voltage cable routes have been buried underground, and pedestrian walkways and viewing platforms have been built, along with parking lots, restrooms, real-time operation information boards, and lighting to enrich the scenic resources. The area features six wind turbines that are red and white, distinct from the pure white structures in Penghu, making them quite eye-catching from a distance. Shimen not only has rich marine scenery, but its unique topography also makes wind resources another feature of Shimen. Heading along Shimen towards the Shibawangong Temple, one can see giant wind turbines standing on the distant hilltops, which is the Shimen Wind Power Station. Wind power generation not only reduces carbon dioxide emissions but also becomes a unique scenic attraction on the North Coast. A wooden boardwalk is planned within the park for visitors to stroll along, with a scenic platform below, offering beautiful views, making it highly recommended for a walk.
