Shimen Wind Farm (Windmill Park) Introduction
The Shimen Wind Power Station is Taiwan's first commercial wind turbine installation. The overall layout takes into account visual proportions and aesthetics, striving for harmony with the local landscape. In order to meet the needs of local tourism development, various high and low-pressure cable conduits have been placed underground, and pedestrian walkways and viewing platforms have been constructed. Amenities such as parking lots, restrooms, real-time operation information boards, and lighting have also been added to enrich the scenic resources. The area has a total of six wind turbines, painted in alternating red and white, which stand out prominently from the all-white forms in Penghu. Shimen not only boasts a rich marine landscape but also has unique terrain that contributes to its wind power resources, making it another distinctive feature of the area. Moving along Shimen towards the Shiba Wangong Temple, you can see giant wind turbines standing on the distant hilltops—that is the Shimen Wind Power Station. Wind power generation not only reduces carbon dioxide emissions but has also become a unique tourist attraction along the North Coast. A wooden walkway is planned within the park for visitors to stroll along, with a scenic platform below that offers beautiful views, making it highly recommended for a visit.
