The temple area is often a concentration of vendors, and the Xinyuan Jiaying Temple area is no exception. However, it is not located right in front of the temple, but rather under the large archway at the entrance. "Xinyuan Frozen Douhua" is one of these vendors. The owner, Wang Wenzhen, learned to make douhua from his brother who opened a douhua shop in Kaohsiung in 1995. In 2004, Wang Wenzhen went to Kaohsiung to learn from his brother and then returned to set up a stall under the archway in Xinyuan Jiaying Temple. In addition to traditional pure douhua, there are also flavors such as taro, mung bean, red bean, and barley. Xinyuan Frozen Douhua emphasizes health, with douhua handmade on the same day without preservatives, using non-GMO soybeans imported from Canada, which come with import certification; the red beans, mung beans, and barley are all cooked on the same day and produced in Taiwan, accompanied by pesticide inspection certificates. The syrup is made from Taiwan Sugar granulated sugar, cooked for a long time. Wang Wenzhen's frozen douhua does not require crushed ice but is still cool and refreshing because the douhua stall itself serves as a large refrigerator, a result of Wang Wenzhen's years of experience selling douhua. In addition to douhua, "Xinyuan Frozen Douhua" also sells mung bean soup, barley soup, black tea, and more.
