Budai Sanduo Traditional Tofu Pudding Introduction

After returning home from the north and being unemployed, Zhang Zhiming decided to make tofu pudding his second career after trying the tofu pudding from Puzi. He learned the secrets of tofu pudding making from a master in Puzi and began his selling journey. He assembled a tricycle and took his handmade traditional tofu pudding to various villages such as Neitian, Daliao, Xinwen, Houbiliao, Huweiliao, Guocenliao, Xindian, and Beigangzi to sell on the streets, eventually establishing a fixed sales location at the entrance of Budai Market. Zhang Zhiming only sold traditional white tofu pudding and peanut tofu pudding, and sometimes the white tofu pudding was combined with soy milk for a different taste. While people became accustomed to the enjoyment of eating tofu pudding at the market, Zhang Zhiming returned to the workforce in Taipei in 1989. The tofu pudding he made became a nostalgic flavor for the people of Budai, with many asking his family when they could enjoy traditional handmade tofu pudding again. It wasn't until 2012 that his son Zhang Zhenyi reopened the business and developed new flavors including mung bean, red bean, and tapioca balls, moving the sales location to the Tsing Lian Bus Station in Budai. Now, it is operated by his granddaughter-in-law Peng Yumin, who has opened "Sando Traditional Tofu Pudding" in front of their home.
