Boat-shaped Fort Introduction
The "Boat-shaped Fort" (E-037) is located at the Houbian Lake Mountain Bay seaside in Jinsha. This three-story fort features underground tunnels connecting to the bunkers on either side, and its exterior resembles a warship, earning it the name "Lake Mountain Fort." The bow faces the shore, presenting an interesting sight of a large ship coming ashore. It once supported the two positions of Han Shehua (E-034) and Houbian (E-042) and served as a deceptive fortification. Once stripped of its defensive role, the boat-shaped fort is now accompanied by up to three layers of track fortifications in front, making it very eye-catching. This uniquely shaped bunker is a rare military site in the Kinmen area, attracting many travelers. The slogan within the fort, "With the position, we live or die," showcases the soldiers' toil and resilience on the island. After renovations by the Kinmen National Park Administration, it was officially opened on January 18, 2019, revitalizing the fort and serving as a case of adaptive reuse of military relics. The vibrant and eye-catching photo wall features iconic Kinmen architecture such as Juguang Tower and Deyue Tower, along with classic reminders from Dawu Mountain. It also showcases Kinmen's charming characters like the Eurasian Hoopoe, Blue-tailed Bee-eater, otter babies, and the cormorants that frequently patrol the skies. These elements were creatively incorporated by illustrator A-Mai, rich in composition and truly captivating!
