Boat Fort Introduction
The "Ship-shaped Fort" (E-037) is located at the seaside of the Houbian Lake and Mountain Bay in Jinsha. The fort is three stories high, with underground tunnels connecting the fortified bunkers on both sides. Its appearance resembles that of a warship, hence its name; it is also known as "Lake Mountain Fort." With the bow facing the shore, it creates an interesting scene of a large ship landing. The fort once supported the two positions of Han Shehua (E-034) and Houbian (E-042), serving as a deceptive fortification. After its defensive role was removed, the Ship-shaped Fort features up to three layers of railway terraces at the front, which are quite eye-catching. This uniquely designed fort is a rare military site in Kinmen and a sought-after spot for many travelers. The slogan "Sharing Life and Death with the Position" in the fort showcases the hard work and determination of soldiers. It was renovated by the Kinmen National Park Administration and officially opened on January 18, 2019, breathing new life into the fort and serving as a case for the revitalization and reuse of military heritage sites. The vibrant and striking photo wall features representative buildings of Kinmen, such as Ju Guang Tower and De Yue Tower, along with the classic saying "Never Forget in Ju" from Mount Dawo, and adorable elements like the Eurasian Hoopoe, Blue-tailed Bee-eater, otter babies, and the cormorants that frequently patrol the skies above. These characters, created by illustrator Ah Mai, incorporate features unique to Kinmen into a rich composition that captivates the viewer's attention!
