Boat-shaped Fort Introduction
The "Ship-shaped Fortress" (E-037) is located at the seaside of Jindong Lake Mountain Bay. The fortress is three stories high, with underground tunnels connecting the bunkers on either side, and its appearance resembles that of a battleship, hence the name. It is also known as "Hushan Fortress." The bow of the ship faces the shore, creating an interesting scene of a large ship coming ashore. It once supported the two positions of Hanchahua (E-034) and Houbian (E-042) and served a deceptive role as a bunker. With its defense role lifted, the Ship-shaped Fortress features striking three-tiered railings in front, making it a notable sight. This uniquely shaped fortress is a rare military site in the Kinmen area and is sought after by many tourists. The slogan "Live and Die Together with the Position" inside the fortress reflects the hard work and resilience of the soldiers who fought for the island. After renovation by the Kinmen National Park Administration, it was officially opened to the public on January 18, 2019, revitalizing the fortress and serving as an example of military heritage activation and reuse. The vibrant and eye-catching photo wall features representative buildings of Kinmen such as Juguang Tower and Deyue Tower, as well as the classic "Never Forget in Juguang" from Mount Dawu, and charming local species like the Eurasian Hoopoe, Blue-throated Bee-eater, baby otters, and the cormorants frequently seen patrolling the skies. These characters were created by illustrator Ah Mai, integrating elements of Kinmen's unique features into a rich composition that captivates viewers!
