Boat-shaped Fort Introduction
The "Ship-shaped Fort" (E-037) is located at the seaside of Houbian Lake Mountain Bay in Jinsha. The fort is three stories high, with an underground tunnel connecting bunkers on both sides. It is named for its resemblance to a warship and is also known as "Hushan Fort." With its bow facing the shore, it presents an interesting scene of a large ship coming ashore. It used to support the two positions of Han Shehua (E-034) and Houbian (E-042), serving as a deceptive fortification. With its defensive role set aside, the Ship-shaped Fort features an eye-catching three-layered rail mound in front. This uniquely shaped fortification is a rare military site in the Kinmen area and is a sought-after attraction for many travelers. The slogan within the fort, "Sharing life and death with the position," showcases the labor and resilience of the soldiers who lived on the island. After renovations by the Kinmen National Park Administration, it officially reopened on January 18, 2019, breathing new life into the fort and serving as a case of revitalizing military heritage. The colorful and eye-catching photo wall features iconic Kinmen buildings such as Juguang Tower and Deyue Tower, along with the classic phrase "Do not forget in Juguang" on Mount Da Wu. It also showcases the adorable Eurasian hoopoe, the Asian bee-eater, otter babies, and the cormorants that often patrol the skies.
