Boat-shaped Fort Introduction
The "Ship-shaped Fortress" (E-037) is located at the beach of Houbi Lake in Jinsha. The fortress is three stories high, with underground tunnels connecting the bunkers on both sides. It is named for its appearance resembling a battleship and is also known as "Hushan Fortress." The bow faces the shore, creating an interesting scene of a large ship coming ashore. It once provided support for Hanse Flower (E-034) and Houbi (E-042) as strategic points and served a deceiving purpose as a fortress. The Ship-shaped Fortress, which has been relieved of its defensive role, features up to three layers of rail fortifications in front, making it quite eye-catching. This uniquely shaped fortress is a rare military site in the Kinmen area and a popular attraction for many tourists. The slogan inside the fortress, "Exist with the Position," reflects the hard work and determination of the soldiers who shared life and death on the island. After renovations by the Kinmen National Park Administration, it officially reopened on January 18, 2019, breathing new life into the fortress as a case of revitalizing and reusing military heritage. The vibrant photo wall features iconic buildings of Kinmen like Juguang Tower and Deyue Tower, the classic "Don't Forget in Juguang" from Mount Dawo, and the adorable local wildlife, including Eurasian hoopoes, blue-tailed bee-eaters, otter babies, and the cormorants that frequently survey the land from the skies—these are characters created by illustrator A-Mai, infused with elements unique to Kinmen, creating a rich composition that captures attention!
