Jin Dong Cinema Introduction
Jindong Theater is located in Yangzhai, Jinsha Township. In 1960, Mr. Zhang Xiangchuan, the Speaker of Taipei City Council, donated funds to build the theater as a place for military officers stationed at the front lines in Kinmen to relax. At that time, the theater was always packed, leading to the prosperous development of Yangzhai Street nearby into a vibrant shopping area, featuring barber shops, billiard rooms, and bathhouses. Today, the renovated Yangzhai Old Street still retains some of the shops from that era, with rusty iron signage and hand-painted ink shop names on the walls. Meanwhile, Jindong Theater still exudes the ambiance of the 1940s, featuring a simple brick-and-cement structure, a wooden counter full of scratches, wooden seats, and slogans in red on a white background, such as "Why Fight," leaving a vivid historical memory.
