Jindong Cinema Introduction

Jindong Cinema is located in Yangzhai, Jinsha Township. In 1960, in order to comfort the officers stationed at the front lines in Kinmen, Mr. Zhang Xiangchuan, the Speaker of Taipei City Council, donated funds to build the cinema, providing a place for soldiers to rest. At that time, the cinema was always packed, and the adjacent Yangzhai street developed into a prosperous shopping district with barbershops, billiard rooms, and bathhouses. Today, the renovated Yangzhai Old Street still retains some shops from that era, with rusted iron signs and handwritten ink store names on the walls. The Jindong Cinema still exudes the atmosphere of the 1940s, featuring a simple brick-and-cement structure, a wooden counter filled with scratches, wooden seating, and slogans like "Why Fight" in white letters on a red background, leaving a vivid historical memory.
