Golden East Cinema Introduction
Jindong Cinema is located in Yangzhai, Jinsha Township. In 1960, Mr. Zhang Xiangchuan, the Chairman of the Taipei City Council, donated funds to build the cinema in order to provide a leisure space for military officers on the front line in Kinmen. At that time, the cinema was always packed, and the nearby Yangzhai area developed into a prosperous shopping street with barbershops, billiard halls, and bathhouses. Today, the old street of Yangzhai has been renovated, retaining some of the original shops, with iron signs rusted and walls featuring handwritten ink shop names. The Jindong Cinema still exudes the atmosphere of the 1940s, with its simple brick and cement structure, a heavily scratched wooden counter, wooden seats, and walls adorned with slogans like "For What We Fight," leaving a vivid historical memory.
