Jindong Cinema Introduction

Jindong Cinema is located in Yangzhai, Jinsha Township. In 1960, Mr. Zhang Xiangchuan, the Speaker of the Taipei City Council, donated funds to build the cinema to慰勞 the officers on the frontline in Kinmen, providing a place for soldiers to relax. At that time, the cinema was always packed, and the nearby Yangzhai area developed into a prosperous shopping street, featuring barbershops, billiard rooms, and bathhouses. Today, after reconstruction, the old street of Yangzhai still retains some of the shops from that era, with rusty iron signs and wall-painted handwritten shop names. The Jindong Cinema continues to exude the ambiance of the 1940s, with its simple brick-and-cement structure, a wooden counter covered in scratches, wooden seats, and walls adorned with slogans like "Why Fight," leaving a vivid historical memory.
