Jindong Theater Introduction

Jindong Cinema is located in Yangzhai, Jinsha Township. In 1960, Mr. Zhang Xiangchuan, the chairman of the Taipei City Council, donated funds to build the cinema to provide a leisure space for officers on the frontline of Kinmen. The cinema was always packed to capacity, and the adjacent Yangzhai neighborhood developed into a prosperous shopping street, featuring barbershops, billiard halls, and bathhouses. Today, the renovated Yangzhai Old Street still retains some of the original shops, with rusted iron signs and handwritten ink store names on the walls. Jindong Cinema still emanates the atmosphere of the 1940s, with its simple brick and cement structure, a wooden counter full of scratches, wooden seats, and slogans in white lettering on a red background such as "Why Fight," leaving a vivid historical memory.
