Golden East Cinemas Introduction
Jindong Cinema is located in Yangzhai, Jinsha Township. In 1960, Mr. Zhang Xiangchuan, the Speaker of the Taipei City Council, donated funds to build the cinema to provide a recreational space for military officers stationed at the front lines in Kinmen. The cinema was always full, and the nearby Yangzhai area developed into a prosperous shopping street with barbershops, billiard halls, and bathhouses. Today, the old street in Yangzhai has been renovated, but some original shops remain, with rusty iron signs and walls bearing hand-painted ink shop names. Jindong Cinema still exudes the atmosphere of the 1940s, featuring a simple brick and cement structure, a wooden counter covered in scratches, wooden benches, and walls adorned with slogans like "Why Fight" in white letters on a red background, leaving a vivid historical memory.
