Jindong Cinema Introduction
Jindong Cinema is located in Yangzhai, Jinsha Township. In 1960, Mr. Zhang Xiangchuan, the Speaker of the Taipei City Council, donated funds to build the cinema to provide a place for soldiers on the front lines in Kinmen to relax. The cinema was fully packed during that time, and the surrounding Yangzhai area developed into a prosperous commercial street, featuring barber shops, billiard rooms, and bathhouses. Today, the renovated Yangzhai Old Street still retains some shops from that era, with rusty iron signs and walls bearing handwritten ink shop names. Meanwhile, Jindong Cinema still exudes the atmosphere of the 1940s, with its simple brick-and-cement structure, a wooden counter full of scratches, wooden seats, and walls displaying slogans like "Why Fight," leaving a vivid historical memory.
