Ruiyou School Introduction
Ruiyu School was established in 1934 by Mr. Chen Ruiyu, who commissioned Mr. Chen Dexing to build the school in his hometown of Bishan after achieving success in Singapore. The campus covers an area of 20 acres and offers free education to children from surrounding settlements, benefiting the local community. The school building features a facade modeled after Western Baroque architecture with a grand proportioned hill, which is quite magnificent. The hilltop includes a national flag, the Kuomintang flag, as well as themes of Indian police and musical bands, with clay sculptures of flowers and cranes, showcasing a lot of creativity. The school is currently operated by the Bishan Dongdian Community Development Association, planning to be an arts and cultural exhibition space. Visitors can also rent bicycles and quadracycles here to explore the pathways of the settlement, seeking the 10 exquisite murals completed by picture book artist Liu Ruqi (Wawa) in collaboration with local volunteers and schoolchildren, enjoying a leisurely time.
