Ruiyou School Introduction
Ruiyou School was established in 1934 by Mr. Chen Ruiyou, who commissioned Mr. Chen Dexing, a fellow clansman, to build the school in his hometown of Bishan after achieving success in Singapore. The campus occupies an area of 20 acres and recruits local children for free education, benefiting the community. The school building features a façade mimicking Western Baroque architecture, showcasing a grand and ornate style. At the top of the hill, there are themes of the national flag and the Kuomintang flag, Indian police, a marching band, as well as clay sculptures of flowers and cranes, all reflecting thoughtful artistry. It is currently managed by the Bishan Dongdian Community Development Association, which has planned it as a space for art and cultural displays. Visitors can also rent bicycles and four-wheeled pedal cars to wander along the pathways of the village, discovering ten exquisite murals completed in collaboration by the illustrator Liu Ruqi (Wawa) and local volunteers and students, while enjoying a leisurely time.
