Luodong Forestry Culture Park Introduction

During the Japanese colonial period, Taiwan had three major forests, namely: Baxianshan Forest, Alishan Forest, and Taiping Mountain Forest. The cypress and cedar wood harvested from Taiping Mountain Forest were transported to the Luodong Branch and the log pond for storage. After planning, the Luodong Branch became today's Luodong Forestry Culture Park. The Luodong Forestry Culture Park is conveniently located near Luodong City, with well-planned facilities including the log pond, forest railway, bamboo forest station, steam locomotive, green forest, and walking trails. These facilities and buildings showcase the thriving and bustling forestry development of that time, while also evoking feelings of nostalgia for the precious cypress wood that has vanished in Taiping Mountain. With the transformation of forestry development, the once bustling log pond now scattered with cypress wood felled in the past has lost its function of storing logs, becoming a paradise for waterfowl and fish. Strolling through the park feels like stepping into a secret garden, filled with dense trees and the occasional chirping of birds. The air is infused with phytoncides and a faint scent of cypress, creating a comfortable environment that invites visitors to pause and experience a sense of inner peace.
