Yilan Forest Recreation Area Introduction

During the Japanese occupation period, Taiwan had three major logging areas: the Bajian Mountain Forest District, the Alishan Forest District, and the Taiping Mountain Forest District. The cypress and cedar timber cut from the Taiping Mountain Forest District was transported to the Luodong Branch Office and the wood storage pool for storage. After planning, the Luodong Branch Office has become today's Luodong Forestry Culture Park. The Luodong Forestry Culture Park is located near the city center of Luodong, with very convenient transportation. The park is planned with wood storage pools, forest railways, bamboo station, steam locomotives, green forests, and walking trails. From these facilities and buildings, one can see how prosperous the forestry development was back then and how bustling it was, while also lamenting the precious cypress wood that has vanished in Taiping Mountain. With the transformation of the forestry development, one can see the once grand wood storage pools scattered with cypress wood that was cut down at that time. Now, the wood storage pool no longer serves its original function but has become a paradise for water birds and fish. Walking in the park feels like entering a secret garden, filled with dense trees and the occasional sound of birds chirping. The air carries the scent of phytoncides and a light aroma of cypress wood, creating a comfortable environment that makes one stop and feel a sense of inner tranquility.
