Houzi Lake Introduction
Due to current construction work, the application system for entering the Back Cihu Lake is temporarily closed, and the reopening date will be announced later. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause (for details, please refer to the latest announcement on the official website https://backcihu.tycg.gov.tw/index.aspx?openExternalBrowser=1). Back Cihu Lake, shrouded in mystery, has opened for visitation following the declassification of the military area. Originally a small lake where Chiang Kai-shek and his wife would stroll and row boats, visitors can enter the park trails through the side gate of Cihu Lake. After crossing a small hill, approximately two kilometers of picturesque scenery awaits, alongside remnants from the martial law period such as command posts, bunkers, controlled iron gates, and offices, making it a worthwhile visit. When the Taoyuan City Government reopened the area for viewing in 2009, they preserved the original appearance of five official residences, showcasing the history, ecology, and cultural life of the Chiang family while reconstructing Chiang's home living space. The park boasts a rich ecosystem with diverse species such as the famous spider, birds, and frogs, as well as a forest bath trail featuring Taiwan's endemic species, the Chamaecyparis obtuse. As you stroll through, admiring the reflections in Back Cihu Lake, you can also enjoy activities fit for heads of state.
