Hou Cihu Lake Introduction
Due to ongoing construction work, the application system for entry to Back Cihu Lake is temporarily closed, and the opening days will be announced later. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause (for more details, please refer to the official website: https://backcihu.tycg.gov.tw/index.aspx?openExternalBrowser=1). Back Cihu Lake, shrouded in mystery, has opened for public visits after military clearance. Originally a small lake for Chiang Kai-shek and his wife to stroll and row boats, the park's trails can be accessed through the side entrance of Cihu Lake. Cross over small hills for about two kilometers, where the scenic views include remnants from the Martial Law period such as command posts, bunkers, controlled gates, and offices, making it well worth a visit. When the Taoyuan City Government reopened it for public viewing in 2009, five official residences were preserved in their original style, showcasing the history, ecology, and cultural lifestyle of the Chiang family, and recreating the living space of the Chiang residence. The park boasts a rich ecosystem with a variety of species including human-face spiders, birds, and frogs, along with a forest bathing trail of the indigenous Taiwan cypress. Strolling through, visitors can enjoy the reflection of Back Cihu Lake and partake in presidential-level recreational activities.
