Houci Lake Introduction
Due to ongoing construction work, the application system for entry to Houchih Lake is currently suspended, and the reopening date will be announced later. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause. Houchih Lake, shrouded in mystery, has recently opened for public visits due to the lifting of military restrictions. Originally a small lake where Chiang Kai-shek and his wife used to walk and paddle, visitors can enter the area through the side gate at Cihu Lake and trek across small hills for about two kilometers. Along the way, the scenic views are captivating, with remnants from the martial law era such as command posts, bunkers, controlled gates, and offices, making it well worth a visit. When the Taoyuan City Government reopened it for visits in 2009, they preserved the original appearance of five official residences, showcasing the history, ecology, and cultural life of the Chiang family, as well as recreating the home living space of the Chiangs. The park's rich ecology includes diverse species such as orb-weaver spiders, birds, and frogs, as well as a unique forest bath trail with Taiwan's endemic Yellow Taiwan Fir. Strolling through, you can enjoy reflections of Houchih Lake and partake in leisure activities fit for heads of state.
