Houshan Lake Introduction
Due to ongoing construction work, the application system for entering Back Cihu is currently suspended, and the opening days will be announced separately. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause (for more details, please refer to the latest announcement on the official website: https://backcihu.tycg.gov.tw/index.aspx?openExternalBrowser=1). The mysteriously veiled Back Cihu has opened for visits due to the lifting of restrictions by military units, making this paradise accessible to the public. Originally, Back Cihu was a small lake where Chiang Kai-shek and his wife would take walks and go boating. Entering the park from the side gate of Cihu and crossing small hills, visitors can enjoy about two kilometers of charming scenery along the way, as well as remnants from the martial law period, including command posts, bunkers, control gates, and offices, making it well worth a visit. When the Taoyuan City Government reopened it for visitation in 2009, they preserved the original appearance of five official residences to recreate the history, ecology, and cultural life of the Chiang family, as well as to replicate their living space. The park boasts rich biodiversity, including unique spider species, various birds, and frogs, along with a forest bathing trail of the endemic Taiwan chinaberry tree where visitors can stroll and appreciate the reflection of Back Cihu. You can also enjoy head-of-state-level recreational activities here.
