Amutian Island Introduction
You may not know Pillow Mountain, but you have certainly heard of Ginger Island - the fictional name created in the popular idol drama "Fated to Love You," which was filmed here. Located opposite Amuping Pier, the best way to experience Ginger Island is to take a boat ride on the lake, enjoying the scenic views of Shimen Reservoir’s mountains and waters, visiting the century-old land god that quietly guards over the more than twenty households on the island, and admiring driftwood art. Surrounded by mist, it feels like stepping into Tao Yuanming's Peach Blossom Spring. Amuping, known in Minnan dialect as "Duck Mother Flat," is located on the right bank of the middle reaches of Shimen Reservoir, on the terrace of the Dahan River. Legend has it that when the early settler Lu Am first arrived to cultivate this area, he kept a flock of ducks, which is how it got its name. In the past, during holidays, the scenic hotels and outdoor fitness areas in Amuping attracted large crowds of tourists looking to enjoy the vast green shores and primitive forests. However, due to the restrictions on development in the water source area, it has gradually faded from the spotlight of tourist attractions, transforming into a serene secret place to observe wildlife. This lake-viewing journey begins at the ecological park next to the Amuping parking lot, where you can walk along the gravel paths shaded by large trees, listen to the chirping of birds, or relax in a pavilion while admiring the graceful flight of white egrets, completely immersing yourself in this worry-free landscape. Excitedly, you can board the ferry around the lake, and it feels unbelievable to actually experience the "miniature version of the Yangtze River Three Gorges"! Following the winding waterway, you will pass by attractions like Longzhu Bay, Dreamland Grassland (Ernai Mountain), Shixiuwan Waterfall, Changxing Broken Bridge, and Lover's Island, reminiscing about the tales of the past and present submerged in the flowing river waters. At the highlight of the journey - stepping ashore at Ginger Island - in addition to local residents' handmade driftwood crafts, mountain products like bamboo shoots, citrus fruits, and pineapples make excellent souvenirs. Don't miss out on trying the fried creek shrimps, fried creek fish, and fried sweet potatoes, and finally visit the century-old land god temple to experience a refreshing sense of relaxation. Besides the existing "Ginger Island Tour" and "Lake Tour," don't miss the limited-time "New Xikou Suspension Bridge Tour"! If you want to see the New Xikou Suspension Bridge, known as "Taoyuan 303," you can do so without excessive physical exertion! As long as the water level of the reservoir exceeds 240 meters, you can embark from Amuping Pier and enjoy the coastal scenery of broken bridges, waterfalls, and cliffs along the way, avoiding the traffic jams of Route 7 on holidays and easily reach the New Xikou Suspension Bridge.
