Ammofeng Ginger Island Introduction
Perhaps you don't know Pillow Mountain, but you must have heard of Ginger Mother Island - a name created by the popular idol drama "Destined to Love You," which was filmed in this area. Located across from Amuping Wharf, the best way to experience Ginger Mother Island is to take a boat ride on the lake, enjoying the scenic views of Shimen Reservoir along the way, visiting the over twenty-year-old Earth God temple that quietly guards the island, and admiring driftwood art pieces. With mist swirling around, it feels like stepping into the Peach Blossom Spring described by Tao Yuanming. Amuping, known as "Duck Mother Flat" in Taiwanese, is located on the right bank of the midstream of Shimen Reservoir and belongs to the Dahan River terrace. It is said that the pioneer Lu Am first cultivated this area and raised a flock of ducks, thus earning the name. In the past, during holidays, the scenic hotels and outdoor activity areas in Amuping attracted many tourists who came to enjoy the vast emerald waters and pristine forests. However, due to restrictions on development in the water source area, it gradually lost its appeal as a tourist hotspot and transformed into a serene haven for observing natural ecology. This lake-view journey begins at the ecological park next to the Amuping parking lot, where you can walk along the gravel paths shaded by large trees, listen to the chirping of birds, or relax in a pavilion admiring the graceful flight of white egrets, fully immersing yourself in this worry-free scenery. With excitement, board a ferry to circle the lake, and being in the long-awaited "mini version of the Yangtze River Three Gorges" is hard to believe! Following the winding waterways, you will pass scenic spots like Longzhu Bay, Dreamland Prairie (Ernai Mountain), Shixiu Bay Waterfall, Changxing Broken Bridge, and Lover's Island, reminiscing about the ancient and modern tales submerged in the roaring river. At the highlight of the journey – landing on Ginger Mother Island, you can find local residents’ handcrafted driftwood art, as well as mountain products like bamboo shoots, citrus fruits, and pineapples, which make for great souvenirs. Don't miss the fried creek shrimp, fried creek fish, and fried sweet potatoes either, and finally, head to the century-old Earth God temple to experience the soothing serenity. Besides the existing "Ginger Mother Island Tour" and "Lake Circle Tour," insiders should not miss the limited-time "New Xikou Suspension Bridge Tour"! To see the New Xikou Suspension Bridge, also known as "Taoyuan 303," you don't need to exert much energy! As long as the reservoir water level exceeds 240 meters, you can board from Amuping Wharf and enjoy the views of broken bridges, waterfalls, and cliffs along the way, avoiding the traffic congestion on Highway 7 during holidays and easily reaching the New Xikou Suspension Bridge.
