Amuping Ginger Island Introduction
You may not know Pillow Mountain, but you must have heard of Jiangmu Island – the fictional name created in the hit idol drama "Destined to Love You," which was filmed here. Jiangmu Island, located across from Amuping Wharf, offers the best experience by taking a boat ride on the lake, where you can enjoy the mountain and water scenery around Shimen Reservoir, visit the century-old Earth God that silently watches over the more than twenty households on the island, and admire driftwood crafts. Enveloped in fog, it feels like stepping into the Peach Blossom Spring depicted by Tao Yuanming. The area known as Amuping, referred to as "Yamuping" in Hokkien, is situated on the right bank of the midstream Shimen Reservoir and is part of the Dahan River terrace. According to legend, the early pioneer Lü Am arrived here to cultivate the land and raised a flock of ducks, which led to the name. In the past, during holidays, the scenic hotels and outdoor fitness parks in Amuping attracted large numbers of visitors to enjoy the vast emerald waterfront and pristine forests. However, due to development restrictions in the water source area, it has gradually lost its tourist hotspot aura and transformed into a serene sanctuary for observing nature. This lake excursion begins at the ecological park next to the Amuping parking lot. Walking along the gravel paths shaded by large trees, you can listen to the chirping of birds, or relax in a gazebo while admiring the graceful flight of egrets, completely immersing yourself in this tranquil scenery. Next, you can excitedly board a ferry to explore the lake, experiencing the much-talked-about "mini version of the Yangtze River Gorges," which feels incredible! Following the winding waterways, you will pass attractions such as Longzhu Bay, Dreamland Grassland (Ernai Mountain), Shixiu Bay Waterfall, Changxing Broken Bridge, and Lover’s Island, reminiscing about ancient and modern tales submerged in the roaring river waters. At the highlight of your journey, disembark at Jiangmu Island, where local residents create driftwood crafts. Bamboo shoots, citrus, and pineapples are excellent gifts to take home, and don't miss out on trying the fried shrimp, fried creek fish, and fried sweet potatoes. Finally, visit the century-old Earth God Temple for a refreshing escape for both body and mind. In addition to the existing "Jiangmu Island Tour" and "Lake Tour," connoisseurs should not miss the limited-time "New Xikou Suspension Bridge Tour"! If you want to see the New Xikou Suspension Bridge, also known as "Taoyuan 303," you don't need a lot of stamina! As long as the reservoir water level exceeds 240 meters, you can board a boat at Amuping Wharf, enjoying the views of the broken bridge, waterfalls, and cliffs along the coast, avoiding the traffic jams on Provincial Highway 7, and easily reaching the New Xikou Suspension Bridge.
