Guanyin Coastal Recreation Area Introduction
Chasing sunsets and admiring the red flowers, the century-old lighthouse is easy to get! Originally part of the Guanyin Beach Recreation Area at Guanyin Marine Park, the large wind turbine swaying in the sea breeze by the beach, along with the blue-and-white Mediterranean-style viewing pavilion, has always been a popular spot for travelers to take photos and a filming location for dramas. Recently, with the debut of the circular trail and scenic plaza along the banks of the Guanyin River, not only has the photogenic quality been upgraded, but it has also expanded to offer a different travel experience. You can reach the beach recreation park by taking Route 61 to Zhongxing Road in Guanyin District. Although the Guanyin statue, which carries the memories of the locals, was damaged by a storm in 2015 and is no longer visible, strolling through the Yangliu Jingping Plaza and the Guanlong Trail in the park provides another option to experience local culture. The plaza is shaped like the "yangliu jingping" (willow purification vase) held in the hand of Guanyin, with a wavy steel bridge symbolizing willow branches, ingeniously integrating local Guanyin belief culture. The spacious park, built along the Guanyin River, features a minimalist grid style that creates a relaxed atmosphere. On the right side of the plaza is the entrance and exit to the cross-bridge, and climbing up the steps offers views of the Guanyin River, the Wuwei Gully waterfront, as well as the century-old historical site—the Baisha Cape Lighthouse. Adjacent to the Yangliu Jingping Plaza, the Guanlong Trail has a design mixing metal streamlines with bamboo weaving, showcasing the lively form of a dragon's head. The trail’s surface is adorned with colorful tiles creating dragon scale patterns, embodying the imagery of Guanyin riding a dragon. Opposite the plaza is a lotus pond, with bridges inviting visitors to stroll among the vibrant flowers, intertwining with the rustic atmosphere of the surrounding red-brick old houses. Continuing along the coastline towards the towering wind turbine, besides enjoying the sea breeze and views, in summer the abundant orange-colored Tithonia diversifolia blooms, and the delicate flowers swaying in the sea breeze add vibrant colors to the memories of the journey.
