Guanyin Coastal Recreation Area Introduction
Chasing sunsets and enjoying red flowers, the century-old lighthouse is easy to access! Originally the Guanyin Beach area of Guanyin Coastal Recreation Area, the large windmill rotating with the sea breeze at the sandy beach, along with the blue-and-white Mediterranean-style viewing pavilion, has always been a hotspot for travelers to take photos and for drama filming. Recently, with the opening of the circular trail and scenic plaza along the Guanyin River, not only has the photo opportunity improved, but it has also expanded the travel experience in a different way. Traveling along Taiwan Route 61 to Zhongxing Road in Guanyin District will lead you to the Coastal Recreation Park. Although the Guanyin statue, which held the memories of the locals, was destroyed by a storm in 2015 and is no longer seen, exploring the Yangliu Jingping Plaza and the Guanyin Long Trail within the park offers another way to experience local culture. The plaza is shaped like the "Yangliu Jingping" (willow cleansing bottle) held by the Guanyin Buddha, with a wave-shaped steel bridge symbolizing willow branches, cleverly integrating local Guanyin faith culture. The expansive park, built along Guanyin River, features a minimalist grid design that enhances the leisure atmosphere. On the right side of the plaza is the entrance to the bridge, where you can climb up to enjoy the scenery of Guanyin River, the Wuwei Creek waterfront, and the century-old landmark, the Baisha Cape Lighthouse. Adjacent to Yangliu Jingping Plaza, the Guanyin Long Trail features a mix of metal streamlines and bamboo weaving that vividly depict a dragon's head. The trail surface is adorned with colorful tiles creating dragon scale patterns, embodying the imagery of Guanyin riding a dragon. Across from the plaza lies a lotus pond, with a bridge leading visitors into a charming floral display intertwined with surrounding red-brick ancient houses, creating a subtle rural vibe. Continuing towards the coastline where the large wind power turbine stands, along the way you can enjoy the sea breeze and view. In the summer, the orange-colored cosmos flowers bloom brilliantly, their petite blossoms swaying in the sea breeze, adding vibrant color to the memories of the journey.
