Guanyin Coastal Recreation Area Introduction
Chasing sunsets and admiring red flowers, the century-old lighthouse is easy to access! Originally the Guanyin Beach Swimming Area, the Guanyin Coastal Recreation Area features large windmills spinning in the seaside breeze and a Mediterranean-style Observation Pavilion in blue and white, making it a favored spot for travelers and a hotspot for film shooting. Recently, with the introduction of the circular trail and scenic square along the Guanyin River, not only has the photo opportunity level been elevated, but it also expands a different travel experience. Traveling along Provincial Highway 61 to Zhongxing Road in Guanyin District will lead you to the Coastal Recreation Park. Although the Guanyin statue, which carried local memories, was destroyed by a storm in 2015 and is no longer visible, exploring the Yangliu Pure Bottle Square and the Guanyin Dragon Trail in the park offers another way to experience local culture. The square is modeled after the "yangliu pure bottle", a ritual object held by the Guanyin Buddha, and the extended wave-shaped steel bridge symbolizes the willow branches, cleverly integrated into the local Guanyin faith culture. The spacious park is built along the Guanyin River, featuring a minimalist-style grid that creates a relaxing atmosphere. To the right side of the square is the entrance to a bridge, where ascending the steps provides views of the Guanyin River, Wuwei Stream's waterfront scenery, and the century-old heritage site - the Baisha Cape Lighthouse. Adjacent to the Yangliu Pure Bottle Square, the Guanyin Dragon Trail combines metallic flowing lines with bamboo weaving, vividly portraying the dragon's head. The trail's surface is adorned with colorful tiles forming dragon scale patterns, creating the imagery of Guanyin riding a dragon. Across the square is a lotus pond, with a bridge leading visitors into the vibrant blossoms and the surrounding rustic charm of old red-brick houses. Continuing toward the coastline where the giant wind turbine stands, you can enjoy the sea breeze and the sight of the orange-red Tithonia diversifolia blooming in summer. The small, delicate flowers sway with the sea wind, adding a vibrant color to the memories of the journey.
