Guanyin Coastal Recreation Area Introduction
Chasing sunsets and admiring red flowers, the century-old lighthouse can be easily accessed! Originally part of the Guanyin Beach bathing area, the Guanyin Coastal Recreation Area features large windmills turning with the sea breeze and a Mediterranean-style seaside pavilion in blue and white, making it a popular spot for travelers to take pictures and for filming dramas. Recently, the newly opened circular trail and scenic plaza along the banks of the Guanyin River have not only upgraded its photo-taking potential but also expanded the travel experience in a different way. Traveling along Highway 61 to Zhongxing Road in Guanyin District leads to the Coastal Recreation Park. Although the Guanyin statue, which held the memories of locals, was destroyed in 2015 by a storm and is no longer visible, visiting the Yangliu Jingping Plaza and the Guanyin Pathway in the park offers another way to experience local culture. The plaza is shaped like the "Yangliu Jingping," a sacred object held by the Guanyin Bodhisattva, and the extending wavy steel bridge symbolizes willow branches, cleverly integrating local belief culture. The spacious park is built along the Guanyin River, showcasing a minimalist style that enhances a leisurely atmosphere. On the right side of the plaza is the entrance to a footbridge, where ascending the stairs allows one to enjoy the scenery of the Guanyin River, the Wuwei Riverbank, and the century-old landmark - the Baisha Cape Lighthouse. Adjacent to the Yangliu Jingping Plaza, the Guanyin Pathway features a mix of flowing metal and bamboo weaving to highlight the lively image of a dragon's head. The pathway's surface is adorned with colorful tiles that emulate dragon scales, embodying the imagery of Guanyin riding a dragon. Across from the plaza is a lotus pond, complete with a bridge that invites visitors to walk among the vibrant flowers and the surrounding quaint red-brick ancient houses, creating a gentle rural atmosphere. Continuing along the coastline towards the towering wind turbine, visitors can enjoy the sea breeze and, in summer, the shimmering orange cosmos flowers in bloom, their delicate petals swaying with the wind, adding vibrant colors to the memories of the journey.
