Guanyin Coastal Recreation Area Introduction
Chasing sunsets and admiring red flowers, the century-old lighthouse is easy to access! Originally the Guanyin Beach Recreation Area at Guanyin Beach, the large windmills turning with the sea breeze by the beach and the blue-and-white Mediterranean-style viewing pavilion have always been popular spots for travelers and filming. Recently, with the debut of the circular trails and scenic plaza along the Guanyin River, not only has the photo-taking experience improved, but it has also expanded to a different travel experience. Follow National Route 61 to Zhongxing Road in the Guanyin District to reach the beach recreation park. Although the Guanyin statue, which holds local memories, was damaged in a windstorm in 2015 and is no longer present, exploring the Yangliu Jingping Plaza and Guanyin Walking Path within the park offers another way to experience the local culture. The plaza is designed in the shape of the "Yangliu Jingping" (willow purification bottle), an artifact held by Guanyin Buddha, and the flowing wave-like steel bridge symbolizes willow branches, cleverly integrating local Guanyin faith culture. The spacious park is built along the Guanyin River, featuring a minimalist-style grid that creates a relaxed atmosphere. On the right side of the plaza is the entrance to the cross-bridge, where you can climb up to enjoy the scenery of Guanyin River, the waterside of Wuwei Gully, and the century-old monument—the Baisha Cape Lighthouse. Adjacent to the Yangliu Jingping Plaza, the Guanyin Walking Path is adorned with metal and bamboo weaving, vividly depicting the head of a dragon. The path is paved with colorful tiles to create dragon scale patterns, embodying the image of Guanyin riding a dragon. Opposite the plaza is a lotus pond, with a bridge that invites you into a charming floral display and a serene village vibe created by surrounding red-brick old houses. Continuing along the coastline towards the towering wind turbine, you can enjoy the sea breeze and the summer-only blooming of the orange-red Tithonia diversifolia, with delicate flowers swaying in the wind, adding vibrant colors to your journey's memories.
