Guanyin Coastal Recreation Area Introduction
Chasing sunsets and admiring red flowers, the century-old lighthouse is a must-see! Originally part of the Guanyin Beach Bathing Area, the Guanyin Coastal Recreation Area features a large wind turbine that rotates in the sea breeze and a Mediterranean-style pavilion painted in blue and white, making it a popular spot for travelers and a favorite filming location. Recently, with the introduction of the circular trail and scenic plaza along the Guanyin River, not only has it become more photogenic, but it also offers a different travel experience. You can reach the Coastal Recreation Park by taking Taiwan Route 61 to Zhongxing Road in Guanyin District. Although the Guanyin statue, which held special memories for locals, was destroyed by a windstorm in 2015, visiting the Yangliu Jingping Plaza and the Guanyin Dragon Path within the park is another way to experience local culture. The plaza is designed in the shape of the "Yangliu Jingping," an artifact held by the Guanyin Buddha, and the extended wavy steel bridge symbolizes the willow branches, cleverly integrating local Guanyin faith culture. The spacious park is built along the Guanyin River, featuring a minimalist style that adds to the relaxed atmosphere. On the right side of the plaza is an entrance bridge, and by ascending the steps, you can enjoy views of the Guanyin River, the Wuwei Channel waterfront, and the century-old Baisha Cape Lighthouse. Adjacent to the Yangliu Jingping Plaza is the Guanyin Dragon Path, which combines metal flowing lines with bamboo weaving, vividly portraying a dragon's head. The path is paved with colorful tiles that create a dragon scale pattern, representing the image of Guanyin riding a dragon. Across from the plaza is a lotus pond, with a bridge leading into a stunning display of blossoms and the surrounding quaint brick houses, enhancing the rural charm. Continuing towards the coastline where the gigantic wind turbine stands, you can enjoy the sea breeze as well as the summer-blooming orange and red Tithonia diversifolia, with their delicate flowers swaying in the wind, adding vibrant colors to your travel memories.
