Xiaolianchi (Xiaolijhu) Introduction
Xiaoli Pond, with a history of over 200 years, is not only the first pond in Taoyuan but also the largest pond in the Bade area. During the Qianlong period, the Pingpu people named this place after their community "Xiaoli" and, together with the Han people, excavated Xiaoli Pond at the southernmost end of Bade, gathering stream water and springs to become the water source for Xiaoli Main Canal (the former Shimen Canal). The abundant irrigation resources have created a fertile landscape, leading to the saying "endless Xiaoli fields and endless Xiaoli rice." Walking along the lakeside trail, one can appreciate the lush rice waves swaying in the wind while recalling the hardships of the ancestors who toiled to cultivate the land, which naturally evokes feelings of gratitude. On the busy Taoyuan Highway 112, the pleasant scenery of Xiaoli Pond presents a striking contrast. The 6-hectare lake sparkles with shimmering waves, while rows of pine trees along the embankment change colors with the seasons. Traditional Sanhe courtyard houses and low buildings intertwine, and the distant mountains create an ink-wash imagining. Travelers gather to converse at the viewing platform, while occasional cyclists take a break under the pavilion. Visiting in winter also offers a chance to enjoy the dreamy views of the bald cypress and cosmos flowers at Lane 185, Fufan Street. Xiaoli Pond serves not only as a leisure spot for residents but also as the southern starting point of the "Bade Qiedong Xiaoli Sunshine Bike Path." Heading north along the path, one can easily visit the Hakka old house settlement, the Shimu Niangniang cultural landscape area, and the Dahuo laundry pond, creating an intellectually refreshing travel experience.
