Xiaolai Pond Introduction
Xiaoli Pond, with a history of over 200 years, is not only the first pond in Taoyuan but also the largest pond in the Bade area. During the Qianlong period, the Pingpu people named this place "Xiaoli" after their community name, and together with the Han people, they excavated Xiaoli Pond at the southernmost part of Bade based on the terrain, channeling creek water and springs to become the water source for Xiaoli Main Canal (the predecessor of Shimen Canal). The abundant irrigation resources have created a fertile landscape described as "endless Xiaoli fields, unending Xiaoli rice." Walking along the lakeside trail, while enjoying the lush green waves of rice swaying in the wind, one can't help but reflect on the hardships faced by their ancestors in cultivating the land, evoking a sense of gratitude. On the bustling Tao 112 road, the charming scenery of Xiaoli Pond presents a striking contrast. Looking out, the 6-hectare lake surface sparkles with crystalline wave reflections, rows of pine trees along the banks change colors with the seasons, traditional Sanhe courtyards and low houses intermingle, distant mountains layer upon layer evoke ink wash imagination, travelers gather at the viewing platform chatting and laughing, with the occasional cyclist resting under the pavilion... In winter, visitors can also head to Lane 185 of Fuguan Street to enjoy the dreamlike scenery of bald cypress and cosmos flowers. Xiaoli Pond is not only a leisure destination for residents but also the starting point for the southern end of the "Bade Qiedong Xiaoli Sunshine Bicycle Path." Heading north along the route, one can visit the Hakka old house settlements, Shimu Niangniang Cultural Scenic Area, and Dahuo Fang Laundry Pool, embarking on an intellectually refreshing journey.
