Zhongli Old Street Riverside Trail, Xinjie River Riverside Trail Introduction
The construction period for the Old Street Bridge is expected to last until December 31, 2029. The Old Street River and New Street River flow through the thriving metropolitan area of South Taoyuan. Following the implementation of the riverbank improvement plans for both rivers, two distinctive pedestrian pathways have been created: the "Old Street Riverbank Trail" and the "New Street Riverbank Trail." These not only enrich the tourism experience but also bring significant changes to the urban recreational life, allowing residents to relax amidst the greenery of the riverside paths even in the bustling metropolitan area. The area is complemented by a dazzling nighttime light show and surrounding facilities such as the New Shih Park and River Education Center, making it a new leisure landmark for weekends in South Taoyuan. Originating from Longtan, the Old Street River flows northward through Pingzhen, Zhongli, and Dayuan, gaining its name from its passage through the Zhongli Old Street, making it an important river in Zhongli City. The starting point of the Old Street River Trail is at the Bazichun Riverside Park in Pingzhen District, and its endpoint is at the Old Street River Bridge on Huanbei Road, making it very accessible. Starting from the San Chong Bridge in Pingzhen, one can connect to Ba Jiao Tang, Bo Gong Tan, Zhongli Old Community, and the River Education Center in New Shih Park in Pingzhen, all while strolling along the riverside path, which serves both scenic and recreational functions, allowing walkers to feel comfortable and not fatigued. The "New Street River," connected to the source of the Old Street River, flows throughout Longtan, Pingzhen, and Zhongli, ultimately reaching Dayuan District to empty into the sea. The main stream is approximately 29 kilometers long, with its downstream estuary being the famous Dapingding Bird Watching Area, which possesses rich and precious natural resources. Along the banks, a linear riverbank green corridor has been planned, and the densely shaded Zhongli Art Park is a primary spot for local residents to walk and exercise.
