Fairy Valley Introduction
Shenxian Valley, located in Nanzhuang Township, is a remarkable point 2 kilometers before Luchang, where the Hehuan River and the Bilin River converge. It is one of the most distinctive sites in the scenic area of Luchang. However, due to the steep and hazardous streambed of Shenxian Valley, it was closed many years ago. The Taroko National Park Management Office has planned and constructed a trail here. The trail, built using ecological methods with wooden planks and gravel, allows visitors to safely approach the stream and enjoy the beautiful and mysterious scenery of Shenxian Valley. A suspension bridge showcasing the culture of the Atayal people has also been rebuilt. The stunning landscapes of the valley and stream provide a refreshing escape from the summer heat of the city. Visitors can breathe in the rich phytoncides and moisture-filled air, listen to the gentle sound of water, and feel the breeze from the mountains—what could be more enjoyable than this? The view in Shenxian Valley is quite expansive, divided into upper and lower levels. The upper level has a short rock bed, where rushing water has carved various grooves, creating beautiful patterns. The lower level drops about 30 meters from the upper level and is made up of six or seven rocky tiers. Water cascades down from above, splitting into multiple flowing waterfalls, forming a 2-meter deep pool at the base, with cool and clear water. The suspension bridge is 150 meters long and connects to the Shimen Trail on the opposite bank, allowing visitors to walk all the way to Shimen. From the bridge, the view upstream offers a broad vista of Shenxian Valley, while the downstream reveals a deep green gorge, both breathtaking in their own ways.
