Chihsing Tan Scenic Area Introduction
Qixingtan, also known as Crescent Bay, is the only county-level scenic area in Hualien County. It features a strait formed by fault lines and a beautiful arc-shaped bay, boasting rich natural and cultural landscapes, with clean blue seawater and translucent black stones. From here, one can gaze at the lush green mountains and the road that stretches along the coastline, reaching the Qixingtan community. Qixingtan is located near Taroko National Park, the East Coast, and the Huadong Valley National Scenic Area. After years of development and maintenance by the Hualien County government, Qixingtan has become one of Hualien’s best scenic spots. Visitors can admire the stunning views of the Qingshui Cliff and, at night, the lights from the Xin Cheng and Chong De areas can be clearly seen, making it a great location for locals to enjoy nightscapes and stargazing. The Qixingtan scenic area features bike paths, allowing visitors to ride along to popular spots like the South Coast Park, the Stone Sculpture Museum, and the Stargazing Square. The 21-kilometer bike journey provides a unique visual experience. Additionally, there are ecological interpretation signs near the fishing grounds, and a coastal botanical garden has been developed in the windbreak area, enhancing visitors' knowledge while they enjoy the scenery. The stone sculpture park at Qixingtan features exquisite stone artworks, adding an artistic ambiance to the area. Biking against the wind can make the body lean forward, letting you feel the power of the northeast monsoon, or you can safely admire the spectacular giant waves brought by the monsoon from a distance. Moreover, right next to the Qixingtan scenic area is Hualien Airport, where, with a bit of luck, you might catch a glimpse of several military aircraft flying overhead in formation.
