Sixty-eight High Ground Observation Deck Introduction
The 48 Highland, also known as Qilai Nose or Meilun Nose, is located at a high point on the coast of Qixingtan. From this vast highland, one can enjoy the unique coastline of Hualien and Taitung, offering a refreshing experience. Despite having the best views, the 48 Highland is geologically unstable, making the coastal area prone to landslides. To ensure safety while enjoying the scenery, a lookout tower has been established, providing a good vantage point for visitors. Nearby the lookout tower is the 48 Highland military tunnel, which has recently been renovated and opened for visits. This hidden underground military tunnel was formerly used to monitor enemy ships from a strategic high ground. It has now been preserved to offer visitors a chance to appreciate the beautiful views of the Pacific Ocean. Due to visitor number limitations, guided tours must be reserved in advance.
