Niu Shan Hu Ting Introduction
Niushan is located between ShuiLian, Fan Shu Liao Keng, and Ji Zai, and is one of the five natural reserves along the coast of Hualien and Taitung. The winding features of Niushan Cape provide an excellent geological classroom. Historically, Niushan was grazing and farming land for the Amis people, who referred to it as "Huting." ShuiLian has abundant water sources, leading to a high population of leeches, which the Amis people call "Ciwdiyan," meaning "rich in leeches." The Han people phonetically adapted this name to "ShuiLian." Lush hills surround a wide river valley basin, while the ShuiLian River meanders through the area. It is a community where multiple ethnic groups integrate, possessing rich natural resources, unique geological landscapes, and valuable tourism assets related to biodiversity and indigenous culture. From the park, the view of the coastline reveals a bay and cape extending into the azure sea. The coastal currents of ShuiLian engage in a tug-of-war each year with the rivers that flow into the sea. The beach exhibits different picturesque styles depending on the climate and changes with the seasons, being covered successively by pebbles, fine sand, driftwood, among others, earning it the nickname "Skin-Changing Beach."
