Maple Leaf Hot Springs Introduction
Proceed straight along Rueisuei Hot Spring Road, cross through the Rueisuei Hot Spring Area, and continue forward. After crossing the Maple Leaf Bridge, you'll arrive at the Maple Leaf Hot Spring located at the foot of the mountain! It is about 5 kilometers from Rueisuei Station. The temperature of the hot spring is around 47 degrees Celsius, and the water type is mildly alkaline "bicarbonate spring," which is clear and tasteless. It is not only suitable for bathing but is also said to be drinkable! With ample water supply that flows continuously throughout the year, it's no wonder that Maple Leaf Hot Spring has been famous since the Japanese colonial period. At that time, the Japanese established it as a police sanatorium. After Taiwan's retrocession, it turned into a privately operated Maple Leaf Hot Spring Inn. This inn has been designated as a cultural heritage site; although it can operate, the condition is that no alterations can be made to the building. Thus, to this day, the appearance of the inn still maintains the traditional Japanese wooden structure, with tatami mat rooms and suites. The bathhouse features an old-fashioned bathtub lined with round tiles. While the decor is not new or luxurious, Maple Leaf Hot Spring has bright hallways, wooden lattice windows, and rows of tatami-mat common rooms, complemented by an elegant garden view, creating a more atmospheric and traditional hot spring experience. The unique geographical environment imbues the entire inn with a strong sense of nostalgia, allowing guests to soak in the warm spring water while gazing at the misty mountain scenery, enjoying the embrace of nature.
