Maple Leaf Hot Springs Introduction
Proceed straight along Ruisui Hot Spring Road, continue past the Ruisui Hot Spring area, and finally, after crossing the Hongye Bridge, you will reach the Hongye Hot Spring located at the foot of the mountain! It is about 5 kilometers from Ruisui Station. The hot spring temperature is approximately 47 degrees Celsius, and the water quality is a weak alkaline "sodium bicarbonate spring," which is clear and tasteless. Not only can you bathe in it, but it is also said to be drinkable! The water volume is abundant and does not dry up throughout the seasons, which is why the Hongye Hot Spring has been famous since the Japanese occupation period. Back then, the Japanese established it as a police sanatorium; after the retrocession, it was transformed into the privately operated Hongye Hot Spring Hotel. This hotel has been designated as a cultural heritage site. Although it can operate, it must not make any modifications to the building, so to this day, the hotel retains its traditional Japanese wooden architecture, with rooms furnished with tatami mats that offer both dormitory and suite options, and the bathing area features an old-fashioned tub lined with round tiles. While the decor is not new or luxurious, the Hongye Hot Spring boasts a bright corridor, wooden lattice windows, rows of tatami-matted rooms, and an elegant garden view, which together create a more authentic hot spring atmosphere steeped in antiquity. The unique geographical environment gives the entire hotel a strong nostalgic charm, allowing guests to soak in the warm spring water while gazing at the mist-wreathed mountains, enjoying the embrace of nature.
