Hongtong's Former Residence Painted Village Introduction
Kunjiang Village in Beimen District is a small settlement near the Nankunshen Zaitian Temple. Decades ago, it is said that even President Chiang Ching-kuo visited here, solely to meet Mr. Hong Tong. Hong Tong, who began painting at the age of 50, was known locally as Uncle Zhu Dou. In the 1970s, he gained fame in Taiwan and sparked a grassroots art movement that earned this place the nickname "Hometown of the Eastern Picasso."
