Beimen Qianlaiye Grocery Store Introduction
Everyone must remember the popular idol drama "Frog Prince," which was filmed at the Qianlaiye Grocery Store, a landmark that many fans flocked to at the time. Built in 1952, the Taiwan Salt Corporation Salt Workers' Welfare Center is a traditional sloped-roof bungalow that served as a place for salt workers to purchase daily necessities and as a recreational center. It remained unused after the Beimen Salt Field ceased operations in 2001. In 2003, a renovation transformed this historic building, which represents the local industry, into a new space. The walls are adorned with locally discarded salt pan tiles, shells, and oyster shells, while the outdoor courtyard is decorated with shells and floats, giving Qianlaiye Grocery Store a marine-themed name, "Shell House." After the renovation, it was managed by a contractor, allowing Qianlaiye Grocery Store to regain its former glory. The store sells various traditional snacks and locally themed creative souvenirs, making it a must-visit place for many tourists coming to Beimen.
