Jiaxian Bridge Introduction
Jiaxian Bridge, located on Taiwan Route 20 South Cross Highway, spans the Nanzixian River and serves as the entrance to Jiaxian District. The old bridge was severely damaged by Typhoon Morakot in 2009, leaving access to Jiaxian only via a temporary bridge across the riverbed. After expedited construction, the new Jiaxian Bridge was finally completed and opened in June 2010. The rebuilt Jiaxian Bridge serves both transportation and scenic functions; this 300-meter steel arch bridge features an ultra-long span design, with only two piers apart from the end bridge columns, to minimize obstruction in the flow area and avoid overflow and erosion of the riverbanks. At the bridgehead stands a sculpture of the famous local product of Jiaxian District—taro, and the bridge is adorned in a light purple color to welcome visitors. At night, the exquisite three-arch bridge transforms into the largest LED light bridge in Taiwan, featuring a spectacular light show that dances with over twenty different colors on the Nanzixian River, resembling a rainbow. The enchanting charm of Jiaxian Bridge, both day and night, has made it a new scenery spot for welcoming visitors to Jiaxian.
