Chishang Township Agricultural Association Tourist Factory Golden Harvest Pavilion Introduction
【Evaluation Validity Period: 2023/11/09-2026/11/08】 Since the Japanese colonial period, Chishang Township has been famous for producing "tribute rice." After a century of efforts by the Chishang Township Farmers' Association and local farmers, the rice mill has become a sacred place for producing champion rice. The Golden Harvest Pavilion of the Chishang Township Farmers' Association records all the secrets behind the creation of golden Chishang rice, allowing you to witness the behind-the-scenes work that produces champion rice. It is a deep travel experience suitable for outdoor teaching and family visits. The Chishang Township Farmers' Association rice mill was originally built by businessman Lin Shilian during the Japanese colonial period and was later sold to the Chishang Farmers' Association in 1948. In 1956, a fire occurred at the rice mill, destroying all the buildings, machinery, and office space. Fortunately, local gentry planned and worked together to raise funds and purchase new facilities and machinery, enabling the rice mill to continue operations. The Chishang Township Farmers' Association rice mill currently occupies 1.2 hectares and is equipped with advanced equipment, including a large drying machine and low-temperature refrigeration bins, as well as new Japanese-imported grinding machines, rice polishers, and peripheral equipment. With an investment exceeding NT$100 million, it is one of the most advanced rice mills in the country. The high-quality rice produced here has become a Taiwanese specialty, consecutively winning the national rice competition three times and successfully entering the Japanese market. The Chishang rice mill has become a "sacred place" for producing quality rice in Taiwan. We hope to combine professional rice processing, rice DIY experiences, and agricultural activities in Chishang Township, making the Golden Harvest Pavilion of the Chishang Township Farmers' Association a destination that integrates education with leisure. Thus, in 2011, the tourism factory was established to provide visitors with a space for both emotional relaxation and intellectual education. The facility includes areas for cultural artifacts, experience classrooms, offers free guided tours by reservation, and a gift shop, making it the only tourism factory in Taiwan that combines exquisite rice processing with rice education.
