Shengchang Traditional Chinese Medicine Exploration Center Introduction
【Evaluation Period: 2023/07/11~2026/07/10】 Sheng Chang Pharmaceutical Factory was founded in 1946. In its early stages, it produced herbal powder, pills, and ointments, and later began focusing on the production of modern concentrated Chinese medicine formulations, becoming a pioneer in the development of concentrated Chinese medicine (scientific Chinese medicine) in Taiwan. In 1966, the factory at Zhonghe began to operate continuously, producing high-quality concentrated Chinese medicine in large quantities. In 1976, it was the first to introduce the concept of GMP, and in 1986, after evaluation by the Ministry of Health, it became the first pharmaceutical factory in the country to pass the GMP software evaluation for Chinese medicine. Furthermore, in 2000, it invested three billion to establish the Traditional Chinese Medicine Industry-Academia-Research Education Park in Zhongli. With a scientific spirit, advanced equipment, and strict quality control requirements, its varied product forms have gained recognition in the medical community and are marketed worldwide. In 2018, it passed the rigorous PIC/SGMP factory certification by the Japanese Pharmaceuticals and Medical Devices Agency (PMDA). In 2020, to raise awareness of Chinese medicine, the Sheng Chang Chinese Medicine Exploration Museum was established to transmit knowledge of traditional herbal medicine culture to the public. The museum is organized around the five elemental medicines: Wood, Fire, Earth, Metal, and Water. It displays over a hundred kinds of Chinese medicinal materials and sparks interest through interactive multimedia and touch process mini-games, designed to provide a lively five-sense exploration: using hearing to enter the fantastical world of herbal medicine; using smell to connect with the imagination of flavors; using touch to feel the energy and texture of the medicinal materials; using taste to enjoy pure and healthy nourishment; using sight to observe the texture and appearance of the medicinals. It hopes to inspire a way of living that enhances sensitivity and understanding towards oneself and the world, fostering a diverse life built on the philosophy of Chinese herbal medicine that not only leads to better health and happiness but also enriches the variety of our lives. After sixty years, it continues to carry on the spirit of Sun Simiao in healing and saving lives, innovating and seeking change within tradition.
