Mushroom Insect Museum Introduction
The Musha Insect Museum is located in Puli Township, Nantou County, adjacent to the famous Niu Er Art Resort, and is one of the world's richest privately owned insect museums. The museum houses over 16,000 insect specimens from around the world, particularly renowned for its butterfly collection. Among its treasures is the rare gynandromorph specimen of the Papilio blumei, showcasing the diversity and beauty of insects in Taiwan and globally. The architectural design of the museum resembles a butterfly in flight, with its pure white shape resembling a giant butterfly from an aerial view, making it one of Puli's landmarks. Besides the static displays, the museum has a butterfly ecological park, which is a semi-indoor greenhouse space planted with various nectar plants to attract butterflies, allowing them to fly freely. Visitors can observe the butterflies' behavior up close and even witness the fascinating process of butterfly metamorphosis. To enhance public understanding of insect ecology and conservation, the Musha Insect Museum has collaborated with Japanese insect experts to develop the ecological park and has professional guides on hand. Through engaging and lively tours, visitors can break away from the traditional serious and dim atmosphere of museums and experience the mysteries of the insect world. The museum also features live insect displays, including stick insects, rhinoceros beetles, and stag beetles, allowing brave visitors to touch or let insects rest on their hands to foster a closer connection.
