Longnan Natural Lacquer Museum Introduction
The Longnan Natural Lacquer Museum is located in Puli Township, Nantou County, near Puli Elementary School. It is a特色 museum dedicated to showcasing the traditional natural lacquer culture and industrial development of Taiwan. The museum is committed to preserving and promoting lacquer craftsmanship, featuring exhibits of lacquered furniture and artifacts from the Ming and Qing Dynasties, as well as the historical evolution of Taiwan's lacquer industry and related cultural relics, making it an important site for understanding Taiwan's lacquer culture. The museum offers a wealth of content, including exhibitions of ancient lacquerware masterpieces, as well as introductions to the growth of lacquer trees, the process of harvesting raw lacquer, and the techniques of lacquerware production. The museum also combines educational and experiential functions, allowing visitors to deeply learn about the cultural value and practical applications of natural lacquer, while promoting its environmental and health advantages. The Longnan Natural Lacquer Museum was severely damaged in the 921 earthquake of 1999, and the founder, Mr. Hsu Yu-fu, faced difficulties and took out loans to renovate, insisting on preserving this traditional industry and culture, demonstrating a strong sense of mission and family commitment. Currently, the museum also sells high-quality lacquer products and offers guided services, enabling tourists to experience the unique charm of natural lacquer up close.
