Handmade Kiln Introduction
Qinshou Kiln is located on the right side of Provincial Highway 21, heading toward Puli from Sun Moon Lake. The exterior features a rich tropical style, and wandering through the park's buildings and installations allows visitors to feel the owner's creative spontaneity. The rugged wooden carvings exude a primitive charm, and the design and construction of the exhibition area and restaurant seem like casual works created by the owner. Thus, walking around the park provides a sense of unrestrained ease. Visitors can pay NT$150 to roll up their sleeves and enjoy the pleasure of making pottery by hand; it's a delightful experience for families. The beautiful and friendly name "Qinshou Kiln" was dreamed up by the owner, Wu Chih-Pin, at four o'clock in the morning on the opening day, prompting him to wake his wife for her opinion. Hence, the Qinshou Kiln in Zhongming Village was established. Mr. Wu's home originally served as the visitor service center for the Zhongming community and is now the Qinshou Kiln where clay is crafted. Every brick and tile has been personally laid by Mr. Wu, including the ceramic classroom, the main building, guesthouse, suspension bridge, and pavilion. A wooden carving on the main structure tells the story of Mr. Wu's journey from a child's life selling fish to where he is today.
