Chalin Mountain Trail Introduction
Chalin Mountain Trail is 720 meters long. It is said that the early settlers discovered the indigenous tea trees (Camellia oleifera) covering the entire mountain, hence the name "Chalin Mountain," which has now been renamed "Xiding Mountain." Chalin Mountain and Er Yan Ping Mountain are collectively known as "Gongtian Mountain." Along the Chalin Mountain Trail, visitors can enjoy the beautiful views of Er Yan Ping Mountain and the Central Mountain Range, as well as the landmark of Xiding, Xiangshan, vividly in front of them. The surrounding lush green tea gardens and bamboo groves provide a broad vista overlooking the Chianan Plain. Xiding is shrouded in mist year-round, with ever-changing cloud cascades. The climate is pleasant, and the agricultural products are of excellent quality. Local residents have gradually started cultivating tea varieties such as "Qingxin Oolong" and "Jin Xuan," producing sweet and rich tea, making it one of the important tea areas in Alishan. In recent years, residents have also introduced sweet persimmon trees, yielding bright orange fruits. The unique natural environment of Xiding is also the largest butterfly orchid forcing area in the country.
