Longyin Temple Introduction
Longyin Temple, located in Chukou Village, Fanlu Township, Chiayi County, is one of the famous religious and tourism attractions in the area. It is dedicated to Master Jikong (Li Xiu Yuan). The construction of Longyin Temple began in August 1980, initially relying on the sincere donations and voluntary labor of its devotees. Despite limited funding, the temple was gradually built, later establishing a management committee to assist in its operation and development. The fame of Longyin Temple can be partly attributed to the 1995 television drama "Jikong," which chose this temple as the story's origin and filmed there, rapidly turning Longyin Temple into a well-known destination, attracting more visitors and devotees. The day of Master Jikong's enlightenment is the third day of the tenth lunar month, and Longyin Temple holds a grand ceremony annually. One of the most famous rituals is the "fire-crossing ceremony," where the statue of Master Jikong passes through fire, symbolizing the elimination of disasters, driving away evil spirits, and bringing peace and blessings to devotees. Due to the grandeur of this ceremony and the significant power of Master Jikong, it often attracts temple groups and many devotees from around Taiwan to participate, creating a lively atmosphere and establishing Longyin Temple as one of the representatives of faith culture. In addition to its religious significance, the beautiful natural scenery around Longyin Temple allows visitors to enjoy the tranquil mountain environment while paying homage, making it an ideal place for spiritual healing and cultural experience.
