Longyin Temple Introduction
Longyin Temple, located in Chukou Village, Fanlu Township, Chiayi County, is one of the famous religious and tourist attractions in the area, dedicated to Master Jikong (Li Xiuyuan). Construction of Longyin Temple began in August 1980, initially relying on the sincere donations and volunteer labor of its followers, gradually being built despite financial constraints. Later, a management committee was established to assist in the operation and development of the temple. Longyin Temple gained significant notoriety partly due to the 1995 TV drama "Jikong," which chose this temple as the origin point of its story and filmed there, rapidly turning Longyin Temple into a well-known attraction that drew more visitors and believers. The day of Master Jikong’s ascension is the third day of the tenth month in the lunar calendar, and Longyin Temple hosts a grand ceremony each year, with one of the most famous rituals being the "Fire Crossing Ceremony," where the statue of Jikong is passed through fire, symbolizing the elimination of disasters and evil spirits, bringing peace and blessings to the followers. Due to the grandeur of this ritual and the divine power of Master Jikong, it often attracts temple groups and large numbers of believers from all over Taiwan to participate, creating a lively scene and establishing Longyin Temple as one of the representative sites of faith culture. In addition to its religious significance, the natural landscape surrounding Longyin Temple is beautiful, allowing visitors to enjoy a tranquil mountain atmosphere while worshipping, making it an ideal place for spiritual healing and cultural experience.
