Longyin Temple Introduction
Longyin Temple, located in Chukou Village, Fanlu Township, Chiayi County, is one of the region's famous religious and tourist attractions, primarily dedicated to Master Jikong (Master Li Xiuyuan). Construction of Longyin Temple began in August 1980, initially relying on the devoted contributions and voluntary labor of believers, gradually building under tight financial constraints, and later establishing a management committee to assist with the temple's operations and development. The temple gained widespread fame, partly due to the 1995 television drama "Jikong," which chose this temple as the story's origin and filmed there, rapidly turning Longyin Temple into a well-known site, attracting more visitors and devotees. The enlightenment day of Master Jikong is the third day of the tenth lunar month, and Longyin Temple annually holds grand ceremonies, with one of the most famous rituals being the "Fire Crossing Ceremony," where the statue of Master Jikong is passed through fire, symbolizing the elimination of disasters and evils, bringing peace and blessings to the believers. Due to the grandeur of this ritual and the revered power of Master Jikong, it often attracts groups from temples all over Taiwan and a large number of devotees to participate, creating a lively scene and making Longyin Temple one of the representative sites of faith culture. In addition to its religious significance, the beautiful natural scenery surrounding Longyin Temple allows visitors to enjoy a tranquil mountain atmosphere while worshipping, making it an ideal destination for spiritual healing and cultural experiences.
