Longyin Temple Introduction
Longyin Temple, located in Chukou Village, Fanlu Township, Chiayi County, is one of the famous religious and tourist attractions in the area, dedicated to Master Jikong (Master Li Xiuyuan). Construction of Longyin Temple began in August 1980, initially relying on the sincere donations and volunteer labor of devotees to gradually build the temple under tight financial circumstances. Later, a management committee was established to assist with the operation and development of the temple. Longyin Temple gained considerable fame, partly due to the 1995 television series "Jikong," which chose this temple as the story's origin and filmed there, quickly making Longyin Temple a well-known attraction that drew more visitors and devotees. The day of Master Jikong's enlightenment is the third day of the tenth lunar month, and Longyin Temple hosts a grand festival every year. One of the most famous rituals is the "Fire Crossing Ceremony," where offerings are passed through the divine statue of Jikong, symbolizing the elimination of disasters, expelling evil, and bringing peace and blessings to devotees. Due to the grandeur of this ceremony and the revered presence of Master Jikong, it often attracts groups from temples across Taiwan and a large number of devotees to participate, creating a lively atmosphere and firmly establishing Longyin Temple as a representative site of faith and culture. In addition to its religious significance, the beautiful natural scenery surrounding Longyin Temple allows visitors to enjoy the serene mountain ambiance while worshipping, making it an ideal destination for spiritual healing and cultural experiences.
