Liu Kong Pier Introduction
At Liukong Pier, take a fishing raft and enjoy a leisurely journey through the lagoon. Want to get even closer to the lagoon? Taking a sightseeing fishing raft has become the most popular way to travel in Qigu in recent years. Liukong Pier is a small pier for tourists to board bamboo rafts to explore the lagoon. You can not only take a rubber raft to tour the lagoon (for suitable tide times, you can inquire with the boatman or homestay), but also enjoy the oyster farms, fixed fishing nets, and stroll along the sandbars. If the weather is clear, you can also admire the beautiful sunset over the lagoon. If you encounter a friendly captain on a sightseeing fishing raft, fresh grilled oysters and milkfish will be served for visitors to taste. The lagoon is filled with oyster farms and bamboo stakes that define fishing areas, and fishermen operate the sightseeing fishing rafts with ease. The rows of bamboo stakes look identical, but fishermen are well aware of whose fishing grounds they are in. Sometimes, fishermen will demonstrate how to operate the fixed nets right on the spot. Traveling through this body of water, you will often see rows of low oyster racks. Due to the stable water flow and clean seawater, the oysters cultivated here are among the most famous local specialties. It is common to see oyster farmers harvesting oysters in the lagoon, and anglers leisurely fishing. The sightseeing fishing raft travels for about 20 minutes to reach the sandbar, where besides fiddler crabs and mud crabs, the large rows of Casuarina trees serve as a favorite habitat for egrets. Occasionally, you can see nests of egrets and other migratory birds, even chicks waiting to be fed, and in the evening, you can observe adult birds returning to their nests.
