Xinhua Old Street Introduction
Walking along the Old Street of Xinhua, this distinctive street with a strong Baroque style is lined with grand classical洋樓, allowing visitors to revisit the old splendor of Xinhua. In 1921, the first Neo-Baroque building appeared on Xinhua West Street, which is now known as Mr. Lin's Cloth Shop at No. 432 Zhongzheng Road. This building combines craftsmanship and artistic concepts, making it the most eye-catching sight on the street. Subsequently, the neighbors followed suit and built similar structures, until in 1937, the Japanese government remodeled the entire street under the pretext of street planning into a unified style. To this day, Xinhua Old Street still preserves the artistic beauty of its ancient buildings.
