Yang Kui Memorial Museum Introduction
Mr. Yang Kui is the first Taiwanese writer whose literary works were included in textbooks during the Japanese colonial period. He is a highly respected literary figure in Tainan's Xinhua District and is considered one of the prideful figures of Xinhua. The Yang Kui Memorial Hall, located next to the Xinhua Township Office, features a notable exhibit: the desk and chair used by Mr. Yang Kui. The wooden desk has a distinct indentation, which is said to be from Mr. Yang's habit of resting his elbow on the table while deep in thought while writing, causing that area to wear down over time. This detail highlights Mr. Yang's dedication to literary creation. The two-story Yang Kui Memorial Hall preserves several belongings he frequently used and documents his life history. The second floor also displays many of Mr. Yang Kui's literary works for visitors to appreciate. It is recommended to make a reservation before visiting, as the museum staff will arrange for a guide to explain Mr. Yang's life and elaborate on his works, providing a deeper understanding during the visit.
