Jiu Hu Forest Recreation Farm (Tong Luo Tea Factory) Introduction

Jiu Hu Forest Leisure Farm (Tongluo Tea Factory) is located in Tongluo Township, Miaoli County, and is one of the five tea factories operated by Taiwan Agricultural and Forestry Co., Ltd. It is situated on a hilly terrace, characterized by acidic clayey red soil, with significant temperature differences between day and night and high humidity, producing thick tea leaves with a rich aroma. The primary tea products of Tongluo Tea Factory include Oriental Beauty Tea, Honey Black Tea, Green Tea, and Oolong Tea. Notably, Oriental Beauty Tea (commonly known as Pung Feng Tea) is the most representative local variety, cultivated mainly from the Qingxin Da Mao tea trees, ideally suited for producing Oriental Beauty Tea. The main harvest occurs around the Lunar Calendar's "Grain in Ear" period, and the factory has participated in national and Miaoli Oriental Beauty evaluation competitions, winning numerous awards. The tea plantation covers an area of 30 hectares and is farmed naturally according to weather conditions, emphasizing ecological sustainability. It also operates as a hybrid tea factory, providing visitors with experiences in tea picking and processing. Tourists can book tea picking and tea-making DIY experiences, allowing them to personally experience the excitement of plucking the tender two leaves and a bud, and to hand-roll their unique tea leaves. This close-up tea plantation experience offers a journey to understand the daily life of tea artisans through the five senses. Visitors can also participate in local activities organized by Tongluo Tea Factory, exploring the environment of the Slope Mountain area through ecological adventures, gaining insight into the harmony of ecology on this land. This exploration encourages travelers to appreciate and protect the land while drinking tea. Alternatively, visitors can engage in handmade activities combining local culture, such as weaving their own straw swords from dry rice straw post-harvest, or introducing their children to nature through art observation.
