Wuguxi Cultural Village Introduction

Gong Hsun Ceramics Company is the predecessor of Wugu Culture Village, established during the peak period of the decorative ceramics industry. In its early days, Gong Hsun Ceramics Company rented and renovated an abandoned traditional courtyard to create a workshop. Initially, it entered the ceramics industry by acting as an OEM for other large manufacturers, providing services such as firing, repair, slip casting, painting, and even shipping, which lasted for at least two years. Over time, the company gradually began receiving its own orders and, at times of high demand, assisted other small family factories by forming alliances to allocate some orders. With economic development, the scale of the company continued to expand. In the 1980s, as the volume of orders increased, the small workshop became insufficient, leading to the purchase of a factory building (its current location). The new factory shifted from manual slip casting to automated slip casting, and the square kiln (also known as shuttle kiln) was replaced with a tunnel kiln. Today, under the leadership of General Manager Xu Yong-huan, driven by a love for the hometown and the philosophy of remaining rooted in Taiwan, the company focuses on sustainable development of the industry, highlighting the interdependence of Miaoli's decorative ceramics culture and production, as well as integrating leisure tourism and cultural heritage to establish the "Wugu Culture Village." This blends "tradition," "modernity," and "decorative ceramics" into a landmark and tourism window for Miaoli. In the future, by combining Miaoli's "decorative ceramics art," "Hakka cultural characteristics," and the cultural historical background of the "Wugu spirit," the company actively aims to respond to future tourism demands, continuously pushing towards the direction of producing exquisite, aesthetically pleasing, and high-quality products. It seeks to create new added value, shape the high-quality image of Wugu Culture Village, and elevate it to become an internationally renowned brand, with a vision of sustainable operation and a brilliant future.
