Wugu Culture Village Introduction

Gong Hsun Ceramic Company is the predecessor of Wugu Cultural Village, established during the peak period of the decorative ceramics industry. In its early days, Gong Hsun Ceramic Company rented an abandoned Sanhe Courtyard and renovated it into a workshop, initially entering the ceramics industry in a subcontracting model for other large factories, covering processes such as firing, refurbishing, slip casting, painting, and even shipping, which lasted at least two years. Subsequently, the company gradually began to take orders on its own and, during busy periods, assisted other small family-run factories by forming alliances to allocate some orders. With economic development, the scale of production gradually expanded. In the 1980s, as orders increased significantly, the small workshop became insufficient, leading to the purchase of a factory building (current location). The new factory transitioned from manual slip casting to automatic slip casting, and the square kiln (infeld kiln) was replaced with a tunnel kiln. Now, under General Manager Hsu Yong-Huan, motivated by a sense of love for his hometown and the idea of staying rooted in Taiwan, the company focuses on sustainable development in the industry, showcasing the interdependent model of Miaoli's decorative ceramics culture and production while integrating leisure tourism and cultural heritage to establish "Wugu Cultural Village." This fusion of "tradition," "modernity," and "decorative ceramics art" has become a landmark and tourism window in Miaoli. In the future, the incorporation of Miaoli's "decorative ceramics art," "Hakka cultural characteristics," and the cultural historical background of the "Spirit of Wugu" will actively meet future tourism needs, continuously promoting products in a refined, aesthetically pleasing, and high-quality direction, creating new added value, shaping Wugu Cultural Village's quality image, and aspiring to become an internationally renowned brand, achieving sustainable operations and embracing a brilliant future.
