Wugu Culture Village Introduction

Gong Hsun Ceramic Company is the predecessor of Wugou Cultural Village, established during the peak of the decorative ceramics industry. In its early days, Gong Hsun Ceramic Company rented an abandoned Sanheyuan and transformed it into a workshop. Initially, it entered the ceramics industry by providing OEM services for other large manufacturers, handling processes such as firing, refurbishing, pouring, painting, and even shipping for at least two years. Later, the company gradually started to accept orders on its own and, during busy periods, assisted other small family-run factories by forming alliances to distribute some of the orders. With economic development, the scale of operations continued to expand. In the 1980s, the volume of orders increased significantly, and the small workshop could no longer keep up, prompting the purchase of a new factory (the current location). The new facility upgraded from manual pouring to automatic pouring, and the quadrilateral kiln (kiln type) was replaced with a tunnel kiln. Today, under the leadership of General Manager Xu Yonghuan, Gong Hsun Ceramic Company embodies a commitment to sustainable development and a desire to remain rooted in Taiwan, showcasing the interplay between Miaoli’s decorative ceramics culture and production, combined with leisure tourism and cultural inheritance to establish Wugou Cultural Village. The integration of "tradition," "modernity," and "decorative ceramic art" has transformed it into a landmark and tourist attraction in Miaoli. In the future, it aims to combine Miaoli's "decorative ceramic art," "Hakka cultural characteristics," and the cultural and historical context of "Wugou Spirit" to proactively respond to future tourism needs, pushing towards elegantly designed, high-quality products. This vision seeks to create new added value, shape a quality image for Wugou Cultural Village, elevate it to the status of an internationally recognized brand, and ensure sustainable operation while welcoming a bright future.
