Wugudu Cultural Village Introduction

Gong Hsun Ceramics Company is the predecessor of the Wugu Culture Village, established during the peak period of the decorative ceramics industry. In its early days, Gong Hsun Ceramics rented and renovated an abandoned traditional courtyard to create a workshop. Initially, it entered the ceramics industry by working as a subcontractor for other large manufacturers, providing services such as firing, refurbishing, slip casting, painting, and even shipping for at least two years. Gradually, the company began to take orders directly and assisted other small family-run factories by forming alliances and sharing some of the orders. As economic development progressed, the scale of operations continued to expand. In the 1980s, with an increasing volume of orders, the small workshop became insufficient, leading to the acquisition of a factory (the current location). The new facility upgraded from manual slip casting to automatic slip casting, and replaced the box kiln (trolley kiln) with a tunnel kiln. Today, Gong Hsun Ceramics Company, under the management of General Manager Hsu Yong-huan, embodies a commitment to sustainability and local roots in Taiwan through industrial development. It showcases the integration of Miaoli's decorative ceramics culture and production interdependence, combining leisure tourism and cultural heritage to establish the "Wugu Culture Village." This integrates "tradition," "modernity," and "decorative ceramic art," making it a landmark and tourist hub in Miaoli. In the future, the company will actively engage with the cultural and historical backdrop of Miaoli's "decorative ceramics art," "Hakka cultural features," and the "spirit of the five grains" to meet the growing demands of tourism. It aims to continue promoting products that are refined, aesthetically pleasing, and of high quality, creating new added value and shaping the premium image of Wugu Culture Village, with the vision of becoming an internationally recognized brand. The goal is to achieve sustainable operations and move towards a bright future.
