Gong Hsun Ceramics Company is the predecessor of Wugu Culture Village, established during the peak of the decorative ceramics industry. In its early days, Gong Hsun Ceramics Company rented and renovated an abandoned traditional courtyard to create a workshop, initially entering the ceramics field through a subcontracting model for other larger manufacturers, assisting with processes such as firing, repairs, pouring, painting, and even shipping, which lasted for at least two years. Gradually, they began to take orders themselves, and during busy times, they assisted other small family factories by forming alliances to distribute some orders. With economic development, the scale of operations expanded. In the 1980s, as order quantities increased, the small workshop became insufficient, leading to the purchase of a factory building (the current site). The new factory transitioned from manual pouring to automatic assistance, and the square kilns (cross-draft kilns) were replaced with tunnel kilns. Now, under the leadership of General Manager Hsu Yong-huan, driven by a passion for his hometown and a commitment to leaving roots in Taiwan, Gong Hsun Ceramics Company ensures sustainable development of the industry while showcasing the interdependent model of decorative ceramics culture and production in Miaoli, combining leisure tourism and cultural heritage to establish "Wugu Culture Village." The integration of "tradition," "modernity," and "decorative ceramics" has created a landmark and a tourism window for Miaoli. In the future, the company plans to combine the cultural and historical backgrounds of Miaoli's "decorative ceramic art," "Hakka cultural features," and the "spirit of the five grains."
