Fish Watching Trail Introduction
Since June 5, 2002, a comprehensive stream closure has been implemented from the Sanqiao Bridge in Xindian Village to Dadongsi and its tributaries, covering a distance of approximately 15 kilometers. During the closure, fishing, catching shrimp, poisoning, and using electricity to catch fish—all activities harmful to the river ecosystem—are prohibited. After more than a year of efforts, great results have been achieved; now the fish in the stream are larger, fatter, more beautiful, and healthier, truly captivating and enticing to visitors. To provide better fish-viewing opportunities for residents and tourists while ensuring everyone's safety, Township Chief Mr. Gu Yuan-yu has actively promoted and constructed a fish-viewing path. This initiative is designed to allow nature lovers to enjoy the beauty of the river's ecosystem in the most relaxed, comfortable, and safe environment, marveling at the sight of fish swimming freely. Unlike other places where one must walk a long distance and may not see many large and beautiful fish, this path provides an accessible experience. The fish-viewing path is built alongside the Xindian River, starting from the Sanqiao Bridge, passing by the Siyuan Bridge to enjoy the beautiful scenery around it. Continuing past Shitan Junior High School, you can also hear the sounds of students studying, eventually arriving at the riverside park next to the Yimin Temple and the Mingfeng Suspension Bridge. Since you're here, you must walk across the century-old Mingfeng Suspension Bridge while watching the big fish in the stream. You can take a sneaky look at the lime kiln as you pass by, observing its structure. Once you finish exploring, you can follow the stream upstream to Shidong Pond. Remember! If you plan to dive off the rock wall at Shidong Pond, be careful to jump precisely to avoid hitting or crushing any fish, or consider wearing a helmet as a good idea. Whether you dive or not, the fish-viewing path continues past Provincial Highway 3, leading you from the Sanqiao Bridge to Qingquan Farm in Dadongsi, where you can visit or enjoy local delicacies, such as the "Black Pearl Stone Banded Fish," guaranteed to be addictive! So, don’t hesitate any longer; come visit our fish-viewing path right away!
