Fish Watching Trail Introduction
Since June 5, 2002, a comprehensive stream closure has been implemented from the Sanqiao Bridge in Xindian Village upstream to Dadongshi and its tributaries, covering approximately 15 kilometers. During the closure, fishing, shrimp catching, poisoning, and electrofishing, along with any other activities that harm the river ecology, are prohibited. After more than a year of efforts, significant results have been achieved. The fish in the stream are now large, plump, beautiful, and healthy, making it a sight to behold, enchanting visitors. To provide better viewing opportunities for residents and tourists while ensuring everyone’s safety, the village head, Mr. Gu Yuan-Yu, has vigorously promoted and constructed a fish-viewing pathway. This path allows nature lovers to observe the ecological beauty of the river in the most relaxed, comfortable, and safest environment, enjoying the sight of fish swimming freely, leaving them in awe! Unlike other places where one must walk a long distance to see a few fish, here you can easily observe many beautiful and large fish. How can you resist visiting? The fish-viewing pathway is built along the banks of Xin-Dian River, starting from the Sanqiao Bridge and passing through the Siyuan Bridge, where visitors can admire the beautiful scenery around the bridge. Then it continues past Shitan Junior High School, where one can hear the sounds of students studying under the teachings of Confucius. Before you know it, you will arrive at the riverside park near Yimin Temple and the Mingfeng Suspension Bridge. Since you are here, be sure to walk across the Mingfeng Suspension Bridge, which is said to have a history of over a hundred years, while enjoying the sight of large fish in the stream. When passing by the lime kiln, take a quick glance to see what it looks like. Afterward, follow the stream upstream to Shidong Pool. Remember! If you decide to dive from the rock wall into Shidong Pool, make sure to jump accurately to avoid hitting or landing on a fish, or you might consider wearing a helmet as a precautionary measure—that's not a bad idea. Regardless of whether you jump or not, the fish-viewing pathway continues across Provincial Highway 3 from the Sanqiao Bridge, where you can keep following the stream to visit the Qingquan Farm in Dadongshi or dine at the local restaurant to try the specialty dish of “Black Pearl Stone Fish,” guaranteed to be addictive! So, don't hesitate any longer—come and visit our fish-viewing pathway now!
