Fish Watching Trail Introduction
Since June 5, 2002, a comprehensive stream closure has been implemented from the Sanqiao Bridge in Xindian Village to Dadongshi and its tributaries, covering approximately 15 kilometers. During the closure, activities that disrupt the river ecosystem such as fishing, shrimp catching, poisoning, and electric fishing are prohibited. After more than a year of effort, significant results have been achieved, and now the fish in the stream are larger, fatter, more beautiful, and healthier, making it a sight to behold and making visitors reluctant to leave. To provide a better fish viewing experience for residents and tourists while ensuring everyone’s safety, Mayor Gu Yuan-yu has vigorously promoted and built a fish observation trail. This is designed for nature enthusiasts to appreciate the beauty of river ecosystems in the most relaxed, comfortable, and safe environment, allowing you to admire the picturesque sights of fish swimming freely, which will leave you in awe! Additionally, unlike other places where you may have to walk a long distance just to see a few fish, here you can see many large and beautiful fish without that hassle, so why wouldn't you come? The fish observation trail is built alongside the Xindian River, starting from the Sanqiao Bridge and passing through the Siyuan Bridge, showcasing the beautiful scenery around the bridge. Following this, you will pass by Shitan Junior High School, where you can hear the sounds of Confucius's students studying. Unknowingly, you will reach the riverside park next to Yimin Temple and the Mingfeng Suspension Bridge. Since you are here, you must take a walk on the so-called century-old Mingfeng Suspension Bridge, while keeping an eye out for the big fish in the stream. As you pass the lime kiln, take a glimpse at what this lime kiln looks like. After exploring, continue upstream to Shidongtan. Remember! When diving from the stone wall at Shidongtan, make sure to jump accurately to avoid hitting or crushing any fish. Alternatively, considering wearing a helmet before diving could be a good idea. Regardless of whether you jump or not, the fish observation trail crosses over to National Highway No. 3 after leaving from Sanqiao Bridge. At this point, you can follow the stream up to Qingquan Farm in Dadongshi for a visit, or dine at the Xiangyuan Restaurant to enjoy the local specialty, the [Black Pearl Stone Perch], which is guaranteed to be addictive!
