Tongxing Old Street Introduction
Tongxing Old Street is the earliest street in Houlong and served as a collection center for the exchange of local products between Han settlers and the Pingpu people. Over time, the Houlong River gradually silted up, and the Han people began to cultivate farmland along the riverbank, leading to an increase in population and the formation of Houlong Street, which is now the city center. East of Tongguang Elementary School, there is a small water ditch, where the water used to be incredibly clear, and Pingpu women would wash clothes in it, so it was called "Fanpozi Ditch." During the prosperous period of Gongsiliao Harbor, Tongxing Old Street was the busiest street. It has now become a charming old street, and the early commercial buildings along the street reveal the role that Houlong River mouth once played in trade and commerce.
