Tongxing Old Street Introduction
Tongxing Old Street is the oldest street in Houlong and served as a central hub for exchanging local products between Han Chinese and Pingpu people. Later, as Houlong River gradually silted up, the Han Chinese began to cultivate land along the riverbanks, leading to an increase in population and the formation of Houlong Street, which is now the city center. East of Tongguang Elementary School, there is a small water ditch that used to have remarkably clear water, where Pingpu women would wash their clothes, hence it was called "Fanpozi Ditch." During the prosperous period of Gongsi Liao Port, Tongxing Old Street was the most bustling street, and it has now become a charming historical old street. The early commercial buildings along the street reveal that the mouth of Houlong River once played a significant role in trading goods.
