Zhanghua Guandi Temple was established in the 13th year of the Yongzheng era of the Qing Dynasty (1735) by Qin Shiwang, the magistrate of Zhanghua, and was originally located inside the South Gate of the county seat.

Zhanghua Kuan-ti Temple Introduction

Main Deity: Guansheng Dijun Historical Evolution: The Changhua Guandi Temple is a designated historic site in Changhua County, established in the 13th year of the Yongzheng era of the Qing Dynasty (1735) by the magistrate of Changhua, Qin Shiwang. The original site was located within the South Gate of the county seat. In the 51st year of the Qianlong era, Lin Shuaiwen led a rebellion against the Qing Dynasty, resulting in the destruction of many temples and government offices in the city due to the war. After the official suppression of the rebellion, in the 5th year of the Jiaqing era (1800), Magistrate Hu Yingkui, along with the exam graduate Zheng Shimo, Wu Dongsheng, and others, proposed relocating the temple to its current site.
