The Changhua Guan Di Temple was founded in the 13th year of the Yongzheng reign of the Qing Dynasty (1735) by Qin Shiwang, the magistrate of Changhua, originally located inside the South Gate of the county seat.

Zhanghua Guandi Temple Introduction

Main Deity: Emperor Guan History: The Changhua Kuan Ti Temple is designated as a historic site by the county and was established in the 13th year of the Yongzheng era of the Qing Dynasty (1735 AD) by the Changhua County magistrate Qin Shiwang. The original site was located within the South Gate of the county. In the 51st year of the Qianlong era, Lin Shuangwen led a riot against the Qing, and many temples and government offices in the city were destroyed in the ensuing conflict. After the rebellion was quelled, in the 5th year of the Jiaqing era (1800 AD), the county magistrate Hu Yingkui, along with local scholars Zheng Shimo and Wu Dongsheng, proposed relocating the temple to its current site.
