Zhanghua Chenghuang Temple Introduction
Main Deity: Guandi Historical Development: The Changhua Guandi Temple, designated as a county historic site, was established in the 13th year of the Yongzheng era of the Qing Dynasty (1735) by the Changhua magistrate, Qin Shi-wang. The original site was inside the south gate of the county. In the 51st year of the Qianlong era, Lin Shuangwen led a rebellion against the Qing Dynasty, causing many temples and official buildings within the city to be destroyed in the conflict. After the conflict was settled, in the 5th year of the Jiaqing era (1800), the magistrate, Hu Ying-kui, along with local scholars Zheng Shi-mo and Wu Dong-sheng, proposed to relocate the temple to its current site.
