Fangliao Fishing Port Introduction
In the past, approaching Fangliao Fishing Port, one would see bamboo rafts filled with catch, specifically used for transporting fish. The bamboo rafts gently swaying with the waves seem to hum a cheerful song, waiting for the next round of delivery duties. However, with the rise of coastal fisheries, advancements in fishing techniques and transportation equipment have led to the continuous expansion of Fangliao Fishing Port to its current scale, elevating it to a second-class fishing port in 1996, while still retaining the rustic and tranquil atmosphere of the harbor. The aquaculture techniques in Fangliao are quite mature, divided into saltwater fishponds for raising grouper, snapper, and grass shrimp, as well as freshwater fishponds mainly for raising giant river prawns, eels, and tilapia, with a total farming area reaching 650 hectares and cultivating up to thirty species of high-value fish. The box net aquaculture used in the Fangliao area, although a high-cost fishing technique, is one of the methods with the least environmental impact. Most importantly, the fresh fish products provided are not only delicious but also affordably priced. In the fishing village street, in addition to various seafood dishes from the numerous seafood shops lining the street, it's not hard to find popular snacks like fried anchovies, anchovy soup, and anchovy gravy, as Fangliao Fishing Port is one of the production areas for anchovies. To taste the freshest anchovies, one can head north to Toucheng or south to Fangliao. If you want to purchase seafood, the Fangliao Fishermen’s Association also operates a direct sales supermarket for fresh catch, where fishermen sell a variety of fresh and inexpensive fish. As dusk approaches and one walks toward the pier, various fishing boats fill the harbor, and one can occasionally see anglers sitting on the dock or breakwater, enjoying the pleasure of sea fishing. Following the coastal viewing path toward the end of the breakwater, the setting sun casts a long shadow over the sea waves, fishing boats, paths, and anglers, creating a beautiful and serene sunset scene.
