Fangliao Fishing Port Introduction
In the past, approaching Fangliao Fishing Port, you would see bamboo rafts fully docked, specifically for transporting catches, gently swaying with the waves like they were humming a cheerful song, waiting for the next delivery task. However, as coastal fishing has risen, fishing techniques and catch transport equipment have improved, leading to the continuous expansion of Fangliao Fishing Port to its current scale, which was upgraded to a second-class fishing port in 1996, yet it has not diminished the port's simple and tranquil atmosphere. The aquaculture techniques in Fangliao are quite mature, featuring brackish water ponds for breeding grouper, snapper, and grass shrimp, as well as freshwater ponds primarily for breeding giant river prawn, eel, and tilapia, totaling 650 hectares, cultivating as many as twenty to thirty species of high-value fish. The box-net aquaculture employed in the Fangliao area, while a high-cost fishing technology, is the method with the least environmental impact. Most importantly, the catch produced is not only fresh and delicious but also reasonably priced. On the streets of the fishing village, besides the various seafood dishes offered by numerous seafood shops, you can easily find diverse snacks like fried anchovy, anchovy soup, and anchovy porridge, as Fangliao Fishing Port is one of the production areas for anchovies. To taste the freshest anchovies, heading north takes you to Toucheng, while going south brings you to Fangliao. For seafood shopping, the Fangliao Fishery Association also operates a direct-sale fresh catch supermarket, where fishermen sell their fresh and diverse catches at affordable prices. In the evening, as you walk towards the pier, the harbor is filled with various fishing boats, and you can often see anglers sitting on the pier or breakwater, enjoying the joy of sea fishing. Following the coastal viewing path to the end of the breakwater, the setting sun casts a long shadow that reflects on the waves, fishing boats, pathways, and anglers, creating a soft and tranquil sunset scene.
