Fangliao Fishing Port Introduction

In the past, approaching Fangliao Fishing Harbor, one would see bamboo rafts docked, fully dedicated to transporting catches. As the rafts gently swayed with the waves, they seemed to hum a cheerful song, waiting for the next delivery mission. However, with the rise of coastal fishing, fishing techniques and transportation methods for catches have advanced, leading to the expansion of Fangliao Fishing Harbor to its current size, and it was upgraded to a second-class fishing port in 1996, without diminishing the harbor's rustic and tranquil atmosphere. The aquaculture techniques in Fangliao are quite mature, with saltwater fish ponds for cultivating grouper, snapper, and prawns, as well as freshwater ponds mainly for cultivating signal crayfish, eel, and tilapia, covering a total area of 650 hectares, where economically significant fish species can reach up to twenty or thirty types. The cage net aquaculture used in this area, while a high-cost fishing technique, is also the method that impacts the environment the least. Most importantly, the seafood products offered are not only fresh and delicious but also reasonably priced. In the fishing village street, aside from the various seafood dishes provided by the many seafood shops lining the street, one can easily find a variety of snacks, such as fried juvenile mullet, juvenile mullet soup, and juvenile mullet porridge, as Fangliao Fishing Harbor is one of the production areas for juvenile mullet. To taste the freshest juvenile mullet, heading north leads to Toucheng, while south brings you to Fangliao; if you want to purchase seafood, the Fangliao Fishermen's Association also operates a fresh catch supermarket, where fishermen sell a variety of fresh and inexpensive seafood directly. As dusk approaches and one walks toward the pier, various fishing boats fill the harbor, while anglers can often be seen sitting on the pier or breakwater, enjoying the fun of sea fishing. Walking along the seaside path towards the tip of the breakwater, the setting sun casts long shadows, reflecting off the sea waves, fishing boats, paths, and anglers, creating a soft and serene sunset scene.
